naikitten mentioned you on a post “OKAY QUESTION FOR NAI FOR REAL THIS TIME: What's a time where Nai...”
@safestsephiroth Awh, it's fine. The more I work through it instead of ignore it, the better, honestly. And aside the OOC badness, it did create a very interesting story arc that has let Nai develop a little more. I should really write up the little fantasy tale she came up with to tell a young hyur friend in a roundabout way how she missed the true love of her life while she was running from him.
I hope this letter gets to you and that everything is going well. I’m afraid we might have to postpone the cookie making a little longer, as I’m sure you’ve probably noticed that I haven’t been on the docks. A lot has happened.
Do you remember Noa? She enrolled me in the East-Mist Academy. It’s the same school she went to, but it’s a boarding school with its own uniform and they teach other things as well as just the basics. I’m learning etiquette, for example.
It’s such a big change, and I miss you. I miss the people I knew on the docks, and even though I don’t really miss the cold nights or scrounging for food, there’s something about that docks that will always be home.
As you might guess I’m having to do a lot of catch-up. I do about three hours of tutoring every night, and I attend classes with other girls my age, even though the material is beyond me still until I learn how to read better and get more math and science under me. I can still pick up a lot from what is explained.
The tutoring,, right now, is focusing on my writing, which includes, penmanship, reading, vocabulary, spelling and grammar. They say this and math is the key to everything else. Part of this is being accomplished via letter writing; I write actual letters, they correct my mistakes (and suggest different words or other ways of saying things) and then I rewrite. They correct any new errors and I write again. Sometimes it takes me four or five attempts at a letter, but they wont let me send it until it is perfect, and then I get credit.
I also get extra credit if I do more, so you can guess what I spend most of my time doing. Would you be willing to start exchanging letters? I would love to get to know you more, and I think I could even tell you more about my life as well. Just keep in mind that I’m not the only one who sees the letters.
Oh, before I go, remember the advice I gave on spices for your steak? How did it turn out, was I right? Spicing always has a certain amount of guesswork to it.
I hope to hear from you soon!
Question: Which top is that for your Haurchefant outfit? I've been trying to find the golden-armored one forever and have had zero luck. :C *is bad at finding glamour armor*
I used the Vintage Haubergeon dyed Metallic Silver. It’s not an exact match but it was the best I could find on the market board :<
I don’t know if there is a better match through dungeon drops, but it’s a possibility!
She was envious perhaps, instead of jealous, of the moon. Pristine, untarnished. It was far from the reach of man, beautiful, silent .. yet powerful enough to manipulate the world below. She wished to be that way.
Rage: I will write a drabble about my character giving in to vicious anger.
“How dare you speak to me in such a manner! I’ll have you know that I am fourth in line to-”
“Your guard was too high.”
“I have been tutored by the very best of House Dzaemel since I could walk!”
It was just one more thing in what had been a very long, very tiring day, and the Miqo’te’s eyes narrowed as he regarded the blustering lordling waving a lance around imperiously.
“But I hardly expect better from an unbeliever such as yourself. If this is the level to which our dragoons have sli-”
His voice cut off in a sharp, wet crunch as the Dragoon’s fist smashed into his collarbone with sufficient force to not only shatter the bone but to throw the Elezen the yalm or so necessary to slam into the back wall of the room. A scream of rage and pain died unvoiced in his throat as he met the eyes of his foe, and something deep in his instincts quailed at what it saw there.
“Your guard was too high. Now get out and pray to your Fury that the chirurgeons can salvage your shoulder.”
There was a loud rumble that seemed to shake the entirety of the manor, coursing and winding through the halls as two pairs of feet bounded through them. They were frantic, the much taller Elezen woman leaping over chairs and banisters as the tiny Miqo’te nimbly ran around these obstacles.
“I swear it was an accident!!” Nai screamed with sheer glee, completely unconvincing. Madelaine, on the other hand, wore a face that was stone cold in seriousness… and completely covered in childish drawings of genitalia and the like. It was far too early in the morning, and Nai had already set to prank her rather cruelly as Erimmont simply looked on with a cup of coffee in one hand and The Mythril Eye in the other. A wide smirk crossed his lips as he heard Madelaine threaten bloody murder, and the other woman simply laughed.
After a while of this, the two women finally sat down, panting and near keeling over in their exertion. Nai, it seemed, had earned a few crude markings on her face as well, and they were an absolute comedic mess at the table. Erimmont burst out laughing at the sight, and they both pouted their lips at him.
“It was actually his idea you know, Maddy.” Nai pointed across the table at him as he wiped a tear from his eye in laughter. She stuffed a piece of honey toast in her mouth, and motioned to him with the rest of the slice. “For the pancakes. Remember?”
Once again, there was murder in her eyes as she regarded the Elezen man coldly. He grinned. “Revenge is oh so sweet, my dear associate.” And at that, he took off running, with Madelaine in hot pursuit.
Nai swished her tail happily as she enjoyed her breakfast amidst the chaos, humming softly to herself. “Gods, I fucking love Elezen.”
[this is a non-canon alternate idea ofa path that could have been taken]
“Red?” It was a cold night inLimsa Lominsa, and Nai Ruahki'd been running errands when she'd heardthe familiar voice in the distance. She had been pretty sure he wascrying, but when he heard her voice he wiped his face, pulled hisbandanna low and turned to face her.
“What d'ye want? I don' need t'talkt'ye, I don' need t'talk t'anyone.” From ten feet away she couldalready smell the distinct scent of alcohol in a purity rarely seenoutside of alchemy labs and morgues.
“Are you okay?” She took a stepforward and he collapsed back against the wall, trying not to cryagain. He was near a ledge overlooking the docks, and she noted therewas a fantastic view of the sky here. “What happened?”
“I'm not cryin',” he said, hisvoice hoarse.
“I believe you. What happened?” Hesniffled, loudly, and she stepped closer again.
“I left. I don' wan' t'be a burdenanymore.”
“Why would you be a burden?”
“I fecked up an' got mad an' killeda man fer 'ittin' me. I can' do tha'. It'll come back down on 'em an'I won' let tha' 'appen.” He looked up at her, his cheeks puffed up.“Ye can' tell them. Ye can' tell them I'm here.” She nodded.
“Okay.” She knelt down to look athim, saw that there was dried blood caked into his hair. “Whathappened here?”
“'E 'it me. I told ye.”
“He hit you hard enough it tore yourscalp open?”
“'S still bruised. Might 'a brokesommat. Don' much care anymore.” She closed her eyes and reachedfor either side of his head, slowly.
“Wha're ye-”
“Shh. Hold still.” He complied, and a jolt of energy coursed into and through him. Nai felt a smallcrack in the bone right itself, and nodded. “It's going to be okay, you know. Self-defense isn't a bad thing.”
“Yeah, but he only fought me 'causeI was bein' stupid an' didna watch where I was goin'.” She leanedback and offered him her hand. “What?”
“Let's go talk to them. At the veryleast you should explain what happened, they deserve that much.” Hethought over her words for a second, then took her offer. She helpedhim to his feet.
“I've been cryin'. I don' want themt'see me like this.”
