Yup! There was a vote between the members on what to go with ("No Tashigi we are not going by the Sword Pirates") and Gull won 💞 insert Helmeppo cheering here

The entire prompt of this au, which is currently sitting in oneshot ideas purgatory, is that Smoker & Hina looked at each other after Marineford and decided that trying to change the Marines from within isn't gonna work. They tried but, especially without Belle & Rosi here, it isn't working. Time to ditch.

While stealing a ship they were caught by Tashigi, Koby, and Helmeppo (who were walking around base in the middle of the night to help Koby clear his post-observation haki unlock mind). Lots of yelling later and they're all on the boat <3

They stop by a bunch of different Marine bases, collecting the rest of the good Marines cast (see below) like Pokémon and also kidnapping Borsalino through the power of Hina's devil fruit being lowkey overpowered + they stole a Marine ship so yay seastone nets.

They swing by Punk Hazard after Akainu vs Aokiji to (reluctantly on the firestorm duo's part) rescue/patch up Kuzan. He wanted to quit the Marines anyway so ends up sticking with them and just putting up with the sassy mentions of Saul every day lmao. At least he helps in convincing Borsalino to stay on the damn boat

So in total, by the timeskip, the crew is: Smoker, Hina, Tashigi, Koby, Helmeppo, Borsalino, Kuzan, Doll, X Drake*, Kujaku, Hibari, Grus, and Isuka! also Fullbody & Jango snuck on-board because their loyalty to Hina knows no bounds.

*they stole drake out of his undercover mission bc hina & smoker got rosi flashbacks and said fuck that nope we are not letting you die infiltrating a goddamn emperor's crew join our pirate gang instead

And then, two years into pirating life, they overhear a distress call from Punk Hazard :)
