Had this delicious yomogi mochi in Nara when they were about the close the shop - I was the last customer of the day so the shop owner was really nice and gave me extra dumplings. The texture was pure yumminess, so good!

Coincidentally, I looked at the plastic bag then immediately remembered from where I had seen that image before:

Way back when we started PekoPeko!TV we filmed the Mochi episode unknowing that the founder of Nakatanidou in Nara was the one and only mochi legend. To be able to get our hands on footage like this would have meant the world to us at the time as we celebrated our first new year in Japan in 2017. It’s touching to know that just short of 2 years later we would be there finally seeing, tasting and filming that experience.
