Every detail of this honorary warrior’s shirt signifies important artistic and cultural principles in Plains art. Women skillfully decorated the shoulder and sleeve strips and the triangular neck flap with beadwork. The elongated diamonds and four directional designs reflect earlier quillwork patterns, and visually communicate the continuity of design traditions. The shirt’s blue paint and lavish fringe convey power and force, appropriate for the most highly regarded male family and community leaders. These men possessed the most esteemed characteristics in Plains society: compassion, bravery, generosity and wisdom, and earned the privilege to wear this garment.

I just saw your post while searching the 'Across the Sea' hashtag after rewatching the episode of LOST this evening; I don't know how old the post is and how many responses you might have had, but this is my two cents; Jacob threw his brother down the hole, and what we saw come out was literally his soul ripped from his body. Fake Locke wants exactly the same thing that Jacob's brother wanted; to leave the island, so I believe smokey is his brother and just changes forms to suit his needs :)

I’m probably way way way late on publishing this but that is very smart!
