When and Where → February 13th 2015, Nick's apartment
Notes → Nick comes home after seeing Demi and quickly forgets about her.
Nick finished grocery shopping, quickly, in case Demi was to reappear, and headed back to his apartment. He headed up in the elevator, desperate to forget about the encounter. The elevator doors opened into the apartment that Sam had claimed as 'theirs' even though she'd only been there for a month and had hardly any of her belongings there. Nick smiled as soon as he heard her soft, melodic voice floating out of the kitchen.
He settled the brown paper bags down on the table and picked out the white box, smiling widely when he saw Samantha at the stove in only one of his shirts, her back to him. His eyes ran up and down her body which was so different to Demi's; hers had been short and thick with muscle, Samantha's was tall and slender with muscle roped daintily around her bones. Nick tiptoed over to her and wrapped an arm around her waist, earning a gasp from the woman who relaxed into him within seconds.
"Careful, I only just got her to sleep," she murmured quietly, looking down at the sleeping baby in her arms. Nick grinned over Sam's shoulder and kissed her neck. "She loves you," he chuckled, to which Sam nodded proudly. Nick smiled, linking his arms around her waist to settle on her abdomen. "I guess there was no point in getting the formula then," he chuckled. Samantha shook her head and he could tell by the curve of her cheek that she was smiling. "Almost as soon as you were out of the door she stopped crying, I think what she really wanted was for you to go away," Sam giggled, turning her face to look at him. Nick kissed her quickly.
"Nonsense," he smirked, pulling away from Sam and going back to the brown bags on the table, beginning to unload them. "She loves me." Sam turned off the stove and looked at him, raising her brows. "She's your niece, she's only here because you're related by blood, otherwise she'd be much happier with a complete stranger." Nick mimed being shot in the chest. "You wounded me," he pouted. Sam tried to hide her smile by biting her bottom lip.
Nick went back to unpacking the bags and once he was finished he turned back to his girlfriend who had been silently staring at Alena for the past ten minutes. "Come back to me," he murmured, meaning mentally, and kissed her forehead. Sam looked up and blinked a couple of times before a guilty smile crossed her face. "What were you thinking?" He asked curiously, tilting his head to the side. Sam smiled warmly and then looked back at the sleeping baby in her arms. "We could have one," she murmured quietly. Nick paused for a second, images of Florence running through his mind. Sam looked up and instantly recognised the look on his face. She frowned and shook her head.
"No, bad idea. That wasn't fair on you. We can't have one, not yet, not so soon after Flor--" Nick cut her off with a kiss and crouched down in front of her. He pulled away and looked at Alena sleeping in Sam's arms before offering the woman a smile. "If you want one then we can have one," he nodded. Sam's eyes grew wide, a grin large enough to split her face in two emerging on her face. "Oh, on one condition," Nick said with a sly smile. Sam frowned momentarily. "It has to have your dimples." Sam laughed and pulled Nick in to kiss him just as the clock chimed to signal it was midnight. "I love you," Sam whispered against his lips. Nick smiled and pulled back a couple centimeters. "I love you too," he whispered, looking into her eyes. Samantha's eyes shimmered with tears and she said quietly. "This is the best Valentine's Day ever."
Nick had done everything he could to try to get his mind off of what was happening behind the door. He'd paced, he'd tried out a new arrangement on his guitar, he'd even resorted to playing Candy Crush before he finally gave up and sat, his back against the door, whilst he waited for Samantha to appear again. How long did it take to pee on a damn stick? Far too long for his liking.
And still he waited, his fingers tapping on his thighs, for some kind of news from the other side of the door. He knew it was perfectly within his rights to barge in, but he wanted her to have a moment alone. Nick figured she needed a second to gather her thoughts just as much as he did.
