NAMEBEARER - Industries of the Fading Sun

Sorti numériquement le 2 mai, « Industries of the Fading Sun » est le premier E.P 5 titres du duo de black metal NAMEBEARER, basé dans le Maine, USA.

Formé en 2023 en tant que projet solo par Tenison (Eave, Obsidian Tongue-live), evient un duo avec Brendan Hayter (Obsidian Tongue, Obsequiae-live, Thrawsunblat), qui a initialement rejoint pour enregistrer des batteries de session. L'alchimie fut immédiate et Hayter apporta voix, synthés et idées de composition significatives. L'E.P a été mixé par Tenison et masterisé par Will Killingsworth (Dead Air Studios). Les paroles écrites à l'origine en anglais ont été traduites en finnois avec l'aide de Veera Anttila, et interprétées dans les deux langues.

« Industries of the Fading Sun » est un regard prolongé sur ce qui reste après la fin du monde, non par le feu de la destruction, mais dans la décadence. « Cet EP s'inscrit dans ce monde où la religion, la cupidité et les autres aspirations humaines ont échoué », explique Brian Tenison, membre fondateur. « Il suit les derniers survivants dans leur quête d'un paysage moribond, les étapes qui les ont menés jusqu'ici et l'incertitude de l'avenir. ». Le groupe montre dans ses compositions la lenteur hantée de ceux qui y rampent encore dans les ruines des âmes damnées brûlant sous des pluies de phosphore sonique.

Tenison décrit le processus d'écriture comme instinctif et impitoyable : « Nous avons privilégié l'instinct à la réflexion en nous engageant sur ce qui nous semblait honnête à chaque instant. » Le résultat est sombre mais lucide.

Oppressant par son atmosphère chaque titre a suffisamment d'espace pour s'épanouir tirée de l'obscurité grâce aux mélodies planantes qui élèvent les chansons. Le chant, interprété par les deux membres, alterne hurlements et chants.
