so imagine this: you work at a local book store. that shouldn't be so hard, since you mentioned a love for stories and poems in your request
this is much more than an average book store, though, even if it is a bit small.
it's a favorite hang out among teens and young adults, so there's never a shortage of enthusiastic customers including none other than university student Kim Namjoon
you were casual acquaintances, since you both worked on the university newspaper. But Namjoon was the Editor in Chief and you were a lowly (and ambitious) contributor for the arts department, so your relationship was strictly business
not that you were really complaining or anything? yeah, he was one of those popular straight A students who was always nominated for Homecoming King and Class President, but that was exactly WHY you couldn't want anything more... right?
so Thursday night was Writers' Night. most students who weren't totally engrossed in the party lifestyle came to either share their work or listen to others.
needless to say, you were a regular fixture at these gatherings. this night you'd finally gathered the courage to share one of your most personal poems
until you noticed Namjoon was there. He was sitting with Yoongi, who you recognized from past Writer's Nights, when he'd shared his own poetry.
at the sight of Namjoon, your mouth went dry. you were usually so outspoken and ready to share your work with others. what about him scared you so much?
it was painfully obvious. he was the smartest person you'd ever met-- and what if he didn't think you were smart?
of course this was completely irrational. Namjoon definitely recognized your aptitude. In fact, he showed up that night to hear you in your natural environment.
after you finished your poem, he burst into that dimpled smile and offered proud applause. Yoongi shrank a bit in embarrassment, but couldn't hide his gummy smile at having seen one of his closest friends in such an obvious crush.
"Just ask her out already," Yoongi mumbled for the hundredth time.
"That would be inappropriate," Namjoon hissed once again.
The two were still bickering when you stood before them, having regained your usual nerve. they didn't even notice you standing there. Well, Namjoon didn't.
"And that is why, no matter how much I like y/n, I can't ask her out! She probably doesn't even like me."
And Yoongi meekly pointed at you as he facepalmed, apparently suffering from second hand embarrassment.
Namjoon stuttered a bit before you interrupted. "Of course I like you, Namjoon."
Cue another dimpled smile. "Oh. Well, that changes everything. Can I take you on a date some time?"
I hope you enjoy your ship @unimpressedperson!
