(Samurai days)
Kerry was having a god awful week. His current squeeze turned out to be a serious dick, Johnny was grading on his nerves like no one’s business because of the squeeze, and just over all a shitty week.
He collapsed onto Nancy’s couch with a small groan, kicking off his shoes. She offered him a beer and sat with him, her body facing his.
“What’s wrong, baby?” She asked, moving some hair away from his face to see him. Kerry loved the girls in the band, they were his best friends when Johnny was being a complete dick. Kerry pretended to be Nancy’s boyfriend on multiple occasions, the two even going so far as to kiss in front of the creep that was checking one of them out.
“This has been a shit week and it just keeps getting worse. My shoes are soaked before I stepped into that hole on the way in here. I lost my keys and phone this morning, found those obviously. And Johnny is being a dick again.” He said, taking the cigarette she offered him.
“Damn, someone has it out for you.” She said, looking when Kerry went quiet. The man was leaned forward, a frown on his face. “Yeah.. I need to like cry or something.. I can go if you want.” He said softly, already grabbing his shoes.
“No no no, baby boy get your ass back here.” She said, pulling Kerry against her. “You can cry here. Safe place remember?” She said, poking Kerry’s cheek. His lip quivered a bit, tears welling in his big brown eyes. “I’m sorry..” she could see the stress in his shoulders, and realized that this ran way deeper than a shitty week.
Nancy kissed his forehead and held him closer, letting him let it out in her chest. Nancy considered Kerry to be her best friend, next to Denny of course. They were always there for each other, even in their darkest hours. Her and Johnny have gotten into screaming matches over it (most of which she won because she knew Johnny’s weaknesses).
Kerry eventually calmed down, reduces to sniffles and wiping his eyes. “Sorry.” He muttered, but she could tell he needed that.
“Rockerboy or not, everyone needs a good fucking cry in their friend’s chest at least once a month.” Kerry let out a wet laugh and nodded, sniffling again with a small smile.
