Nancy Drew: The Simlington Hotel mystery.
Starring: Nancy Takamura as Nancy Drew.
Nancy Drew, a red-haired girl with a keen sense for mysteries, steps into her hotel room at the Simlington Hotel. She unpacks some of her luggage, and calls up one of her best friends, Bess Marvin, to let her know where she’s staying. “The hotel owner, Mx. Moore, told me that spooky stuff is happening in the middle of the night, and they've been seeing a shadowy figure skulking around. Plus, some guests have reported missing items! If I can’t figure out who’s behind all this, the hotel may have to shut its doors for good.” Nancy says. “Okay, but be careful Nan. You never know if there might be actual ghosts haunting the place,” Bess says, a nervous tone in her voice. “Oh Bess, you know I don’t believe in ghosts,” Nancy says cheerfully. “Listen, I’ve got to go unpack the rest of my things, but I’ll talk to you later, okay?” She adds. “Sure, talk to you later,” Bess says, hanging up. Nancy finishes unpacking and spots an ornate green trunk. “Hmm,” she muses, seeing that a part of it is missing. She adds an item to her checklist of finding the missing part, if possible.
With not much to do, she heads over to the bookcase by her bed, picking up a book about the history of the hotel, and its eccentric first owner, Wilbert Simlington. According to the book, Mr. Simlington was a generous man who lost his wife and kids in an accident and became reclusive after that, only talking to his beloved parrot, Steve. The most interesting part to Nancy, however, is that he may have hidden part of the Simlington family jewels and gold somewhere on the hotel grounds! She jots this information down in her notebook, and by the time she’s done, the jet lag from the flight sets in. Yawning, she heads to the restroom to brush her teeth, changes into pajamas, and falls asleep as soon as her head hits the pillows on her fancy bed. Hours later, she awakes with a start to hear howling and scraping outside her room door! It stops just as she throws her covers back and leaps out of bed, fumbling to find her slippers in the dark. “What was that?” She says out loud, making her way over to the lamps to switch on the lights. Grabbing her trusty flashlight and notepad, she heads out to investigate…
Edit: I was inspired to make this Nancy Drew shoot partly based on the books and partly on the games because I grew up with both and loved them so much. Nancy Takamura is my sim who loves the books and games too, and she shares the teen detective’s red hair and name, so she was the perfect person to dress up as her. The story section was inspired by the earlier books, plus the newer Nancy Drew diaries. I guess you could say this is my attempt at a mini fanfiction of Nancy Drew. 😄
I used Canva to make some photos look like the earlier game design and UI, and I was inspired by games like Treasure in a Royal Tower, Haunting of Castle Malloy, Beast of Blackmoor Manor, and Captive Curse. I have so much nostalgia for those older games, and Treasure in a Royal Tower was the first ND game I remember playing. 🥰
