With a heavy weight of greaf that i announce that the legendary dancer, performer and #somaticeducation #NancyStarkSmith lost jer battle to ovarian cancer in 1st may. For the ones who are not aquitance with #PostModernDance ,she alongside #StevePaxton (modetn dancer turned #Aikido practioner ) created the #ExpressiveMovement style aka #ContactImprovisation in a performance called #Magnesium in #OberlinCollege in 1972. Her influence in both arts and health science will never be forgotten. In difficult times like that,i hope her spirit can still illuminate and inspire the ones who admired her work. #RIP , Nancy . The term Contact Improvisation is used so loosely nowadays in the dance scene (perhaps not just in Singapore), anything that has body contact and is done spontaneously or without much premeditation seems to be conveniently tossed into the basket of Contact Improvisation. Or perhaps some want to hop onto the Contact Improvisation bandwagon, wanting to partake in some of it. 

I think I have a slight sense of what Contact Improvisation entails, but admittedly, what I know is narrow and limited, and I don't have a good description/explanation of what the form is exactly. Here is a good article shared by Felicia Lim, that I think helps shed light on the form.
