but why would you ever make such a choice? I mean even the horrifying fatalistic bits are better in Tolkien! “Ride now for ruin and the world’s ending!”     Also: Gollum trying to cannibalize the mysteriously preserved dead heroes of a bygone age.

I loooooove the manga so so soooo much.

YEAH

I watched Nausicaa way back when I got into Ghibli (it may have been at the beginning of high school, the summer I was really sick with not!mono and watched all the animated movies I could find on YouTube) and later found out about the manga and always wanted to read it - actually, I think you mentioned it in some of your LJ posts and that was part of what brought it to my attention - but didn’t get around to buying it until a couple of months ago and have been too busy to start reading it until now and it’s SO GOOD! Even better than everything I’d heard. And there are even more nice big bugs than I was expecting. :’) I haven’t actually finished it yet, though I think I’m into the denouement, so it will be interesting to see if things end up the way I think they will...

Lovely big bugs and environmentalism aside, primarily I did read it for the extra Kushana content and shippiness people promised, and I haven’t been disappointed on that front. K U S H A N A

(ok I can never shut up about Kushana but Nausicaa is actually my favorite, I think, I love her SO much and she’s been on my list of favorite ever protagonists since I saw the movie but she’s EVEN BETTER here)

Haha, thank you! I brought the workload on myself, I knew I’d be dealing with a lot this semester, but my hobbies have taken a hit.

(GBBO isn’t helping. I picked the worst time to “just see what all the hype was about” considering everything that I should be doing instead of raptly binge-watching British people getting upset on Netflix.)

Yikes! I am so sorry they hurt you that way. I'm really glad you're in a position to cut off contact with them.

“Yikes” is an incredibly accurate descriptor of my entire reaction to this situation. I’m glad I was able to cut things off relatively quickly too (and will hopefully be quicker to recognize and take steps to prevent that kind of toxic relationship from developing in the future).
