Baking Powder Biscuits
This recipe is one of my favorites. My mother would make them when I was growing up, and its like she is here when I make them. They are great as a dinner side, or for a delicious breakfast. They are easy to make and only costs a few dollars per batch.
Ingredients
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 stick of butter or 8 teaspoons of shortening (chilled)
1 cup whole milk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425
Mix dry ingredients
Cut butter into small bits
Mix butter into dry ingredients, enough to distribute them and coat butter with the flour
Add milk and stir only until they are pretty well mixed
Sprinkle flour on a cutting board/clean flat surface and place biscuit mixture on top
For mixture into a ball, then slightly flatten and fold in half a few times
If mixture seems too wet, sprinkle more flour onto it
Flatten mixture to about 1/2″ think, and cut into rounds (I like to use an old peanut butter jar, but a glass will work just as well)
Place on baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown
Feel free to message me with questions, success stories, fails, or just for the hell of it. Have fun cooking, and hope you enjoy! I will upload photos of the process as well when I make this recipe next.
