Let's Talk Phone Time Part II
If the kids aren't going on technology what on earth should they do? Use their minds would be the stuffy answer. It's true, they should use their minds. I personally find technology to be a wonderful forward thinking activity when engaged properly however when kids are turning into zombies, I get offended. I hate seeing kids in stores on a phone or tablet just to shut them up. I love bringing the kids into the store with me! There are so many colors and new things to see and understand. When kids are younger this is a little easier because it's not so boring for them and they don't whine for specific things. I will cover whining next.
There is always Pintrest and many other sites to give ideas. Pintrest has so many easy things to do I honestly think listing much here is redundant.
Nanny-SAHMs or SAHD Ideas
This one came from a Nanny who visited with me and we talked about certain age groups. She said her kids loved her tape wallet and tape money. The older kids helped make the wallet and money and the little ones loved counting it and putting it back into the wallet. It was an easy activity and relatively cheap. Say $8 if you get one tape (I find the pattern tapes to be over priced just because this activity took off).
When I started with this family I'm with now, I asked if the kids would be interested in playing with colored vanilla pudding as paint. I was told the kids are too young for wet sensory play. I now make sure to mention that you can do this in lunch bags so their hands aren't sticky which avoids the upset of sticky foods. The pudding is of course non-toxic for kids who are sticking their hands in their mouths and if they get it in their hair the worst part to get out is the dye.
On this topic we started creating a sensory book for the younger two toddlers. One that I started to make with the 3 year old. She was SO excited to make it for her sister :) I have the sticky back foams and I will put them together this weekend and the kids will have a sensory book with foams and shapes, glitter, can do sandpaper, poms - we got rainbow poms of different sizes and the fuzzy liner sticks (I'm blanking out here on what they're called)....
Jump to it! I hope everyone is safe in this weather! I have the day off because of it. Have fun with Pintrest and some other crafting sites. Examples: Craftgawker or Buttonbag.co.uk, or VideoJug
