If you use pen and ink---
DO NOT BUY ROYAL AND LANGNICKEL NANO-LINERS. THEY ARE ATROCIOUS. I only picked them up because I needed something for a project and the place I went had none of the usual micron in black ink. I thought- what the heck! Let's try these! I'm always open to trying new supplies. I'm also working on illustration board... So I can say the paper is not to blame at all. My Sepia Microns did not do any of the below. They look like micron pens/ prisma color liners... But they are not here's why. I'm talking about a 005 here...The tip? It's squishy- not felt tip squishy- but it doesn't hold a clean dot for a stipple at all. Period. I can't tap my board and get a clean dot- it's fuzzy... and as a result of the squishy? Huge ink dot. It grows to 3 times the size of the pen tip. Useless for a fine tip. I might as well have stuck a 03 on the page by the time the lot had blossomed. The ink? Well it's super runny and it smells horrid. It's almost the same as using a prismacolor marker to ink. It gives super fuzzy edges with normal speed. That's no good for clean lines. You have to move at light speed for this stuff to put down without a wobble- which I can't at all, and the 005 still gives fat strokes. I can get better line quality using a brush and India ink. I can get better line quality using watercolor and painting fur for heavens sake. It says the ink is permanent- but I added water after it had dried (like a watercolor wash) and the ink reactivated a bit. It did the same with marker. Which is No use for comic making or anything. I also had loose ink hanging out around the nib when I opened it. That to me is telling. These are brand new out the package pens. They shouldn't have ink residue on them. The ink should not leak period. I suppose you could use them if you were doing ink entirely on marker paper- but I wouldn't trust these pens for anything. Do not buy these pens. Period. Buy the Micron or even the Prismacolor liners. Pay a couple of cents more. It's worth it. These pens are terrible and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them now... Throwing them away is a waste, but they are so bad. And the place I got them will not take them back.
