The Best Hummus In The City Is At This Place
It all started with the chicken wrap—all-natural chicken breast, served warm with hummus, green tahini, caramelized onions and organic greens. My friend introduced me to this little slice of heaven back in 2010 and I’ve been obsessed with Nanoosh ever since. No ordinary lunch spot, the Mediterranean-inspired eatery offers authentic soups, salads, wraps and plates, all made from the fresh, organic ingredients. Since everything on the menu is nutritionally balanced, you can feel good about enjoying that farro-falafel plate or ground beef wrap. My personal favorite as of late is the lentil-avocado salad but, on colder days, I’ll order the seasonal zucchini-kale soup with a side of hummus and one of Nanoosh’s fluffy whole-wheat pitas. Whatever you choose, chances are you'll be hooked. See you there.

Nanoosh = yummy, fresh, organic, natural, mediterranean food.
We have recently completed a number of new menus for Nanoosh cafes - a large printed menu board, in-store menus, and outside menus.
It made us so hungry each time we looked at the designs!
Well done to David at Nanoosh for working so well with us during the design phase, and we hope that his customers enjoy the “mediterranean goodness”!
Nanoosh, Manhattan, New York
(from 2011)
The New York Public Library is a great place to study, but being human, I get hungry after several hours. Usually, I tend to wander around the East Village or the heart of Midtown, and am not really familiar with restaurants in other parts of the city. Fortunately, New York is one of those cities where you can just follow your nose in any direction and you’ll find at least something to eat within a block or two, and that’s what happened to me.
My two options were either a South American place that seemed to have a lot of meat-based dishes, or an organic Mediterranean place called Nanoosh. Being vegetarian, I chose the latter. As I entered, I was greeted by a sleek, modern interior. The place looked comfortable, and music was great (it created a really chill ambience). Being a foursquare addict, I promptly checked in and read the tips for the place. One of the recommendations was for the Greek salad with Feta dressing, but I was feeling a bit daring and ordered the Citrus dressing instead. The girl at the register was really friendly, and as per my request, they left the onions out of my Salad. The food was made quickly, and before I knew it, I found a table and sat down.
As it was starting to get warm outside, their AC was cranked up, making it a bit too cold for my liking, but the salad looked good, so I put on my sweater and started eating. I’m a huge fan of Mediterranean food, and have been around the block. I was satisfied with the freshness of the vegetables, but I was rather disappointed at the citrus dressing. I was expecting something light and crisp, but the dressing was a bit too sour, and didn’t really have any other flavors to add dimension to it. Not being able to eat a salad without dressing, I remembered that one of the foursquare tips recommended the green sauce (one of the two sauces that were in jars on my table), so I took a bit of it on a lettuce leaf and tried it. It was pretty good, so I added two spoonfuls of it to my citrus dressing. The green sauce helped, but it did not make the dressing taste entirely satisfactory. Nonetheless, I still managed to finish my salad. At least the pita that came with it was warm and fresh, which was nice considering the rather low temperature of the restaurant.
To get the taste of citrus dressing out of my mouth, I decided to give the restaurant one last chance by ordering dessert. I ordered the cardamom rice salad, which came with a side of toasted almonds. It was pretty good, but not worth the price I paid for it.
All in all, I was rather disappointed with the food at Nanoosh. The citrus dressing was way too sour and the cardamom rice pudding was decent but overpriced for its quality. Maybe their non-vegetarian options are better?
