The anime-only additions to Kinta's character introduction have resulted in a new Kinta-Vamola parallel!!

Both are invisible to the main characters.

For Vamola, it's quite literal - at least until Kinta figures out the optical trick.

And as seen in the new anime scenes, Kinta is figuratively invisible when trying to get Okarun's attention.

Now, I don't think Okarun overlooked him in full. He clearly picked up on the commotion... and in true introvert fashion, he decided that 'it couldn't possibly involve him' before carrying on with his day. But from a narrative viewpoint, Kinta is treated as if he were invisible. Moreover, Kinta feels invisible.

I could go on by saying that in both cases, the invisibility is a result of Kinta and Vamola proceeding with caution when approaching our MCs. But there is contrast as well, because while Vamola loses control when her invisibility is overcome externally, Kinta gains control by overcoming his invisibility internally and speaking to Okarun point-blank. There, I did it!

What made you ship it?

What really sold it for me was when they were co-piloting the Great Kinta together. I was beginning to warm up to Vamola around this time but after this particular interaction it just clicked.

Like?? The team up?? Kinta's determination and finally getting acknowledged properly by a beautiful girl (Vamola)??? They're just so precious to me ugh. (And iirc Kinta's the first guy besides Okarun who Vamola called strong... I'm WEAK)

And also... BATTLE COUPLE! Could this get any better??? (One of, if not my most favourite trope)

What are your favorite things about the ship?

I do enjoy the trope perv x innocent (though is it really applicable here? Not sure.) As in, the innocent (in this case, Vamola) makes the perv (Kinta) see there's more than what meets the eye. There's so much potential here besides fat guy getting the girl of his dreams.

I just imagine Vamola spending more time with Kinta (maybe bonding over mechs) and Kinta's like. "Oh shoot she's beautiful inside and out!" And she'd trust him enough to teach her about their world and explore it with him.

Vamola: So how do I get forklift certified? Kinta: WHERE DID YOU LEARN THAT?? *heart eyes*

They're just so precious to me. Like yes pls help each other grow and see more about the world (and each other!)

And also BATTLE COUPLE. I'll never shut up about that. I would LOVE more teamups between them my heart craves them hauling ass on the battlefield together,,

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I've seen so many people argue that Vamola deserves better but honestly? Kinta fits.

"But he's a perv!"

He's not even a perv??? Just a teenager who's lonely and tries to fit in (cause he mistook the talk about okarun's family jewels as an inside dirty joke if i'm not mistaken)

Kinta deserves a break smh. He's been through a lot and gets trashed on so hard (in the manga and in the fandom both, sadly)

But anyway, that's about it!

to be clear I do also think kinta and vamola are absolutely cute as shit. like it would be so easy for their whole thing to come off as creepy or weird but it’s not!! he earnestly likes her, and he likes her more and more the more time they spend together. she trusts him to guide her through this unfamiliar world and kinta delivers on that faith bc he genuinely wants her to be safe and happy. his crush on her literally drives him to realize that he isn’t happy with just not being the worst, he wants to be better for her and for their friends bc he enjoys being around them!!! this specific element of kinta’s developing character arc is deeply important to me btw it’s. painfully real and human. he’s finally found people he trusts and wants to impress badly enough that the potential benefits of pushing himself to try harder outweigh the risks of failure and humiliation and I love that about him.

I at first didn't ship Kinta x Vamola b/c Tatsu didn't give me enough to care about it. But the community (and the vocal minority of fatphobic Kinta haters that I vow to spite) made me love it.
