Nanui Tidbit #4

Nanui is a giant cry baby. Not in an 'Im easily upset' kind of way. But in a 'there are types of tears for every occasion' kind of way. He gets super excited? Cries. Give him a special present? Cries. He gets super frustrated? Cries. His nephews do something super cute? Cries. He gets hella sad? Cries. The only emotion Nanui doesn't have tears for is when he's angry. He becomes unnervingly placid and monotone. Which given how excitable and emotional he is is very off-putting.

Nanui Tidbit #3

Nanuis spirit sibling is an older female Tulkun named A'nawei. They met when he was still a teen and she had already birthed her first calf.

Nanui wasn't expecting to find his spirit sibling and was playing with the baby when the tulkun returned and was led to A'nawei who bonded very quickly with Nanui's gentle heart and excitable nature.

They have a hilarious relationship that alternates between her mothering and scolding him or gossiping like raunchy book club members. Nanui has all the tulkun tea and he thinks it's so interesting even if he really doesn't do anything with it.

It's something he avoids thinking about, but given the fact that she was older when they found each other, it's pretty likely that he will outlive her and eventually mourn her loss. But he knows and keeps up with her calves as they grow so there will always be a piece of her for him to cherish.

Nanui tidbit #2

This man lives to create. He's a craftsman and weaver for a reason. Color coordination, design freedom, new weaving techniques.

He has such a passion for his art. To be friends with nanui is to get constant knick knacks and jewelry. From intricately woven hair pieces to dainty braided bracelets and mats and beaded curtains for decorating your home.

This passion runs deep. Gotta be careful with him around woven pathways and structures though. If he sees something coming unraveled or falling out he will stop whatever he is doing to go fix it. He takes pride in his work.

The quickest way to his heart is crafting materials. Pearls, shells ,uniquely colored stones, teeth of interesting animals, spines of colorful fish, etc.

His favorite shells are Skuka shells and he loves starbeak fins for the colors.

NANUI TIDBIT #1

Nanui was a very quiet and shy child. Being raised within the Metkayina, he had a sign language to default to instead of speaking that his clan could understand so he spent most of his childhood selectively mute.

It wasnt until his parents passed in his late teens that he actually started actively speaking, trying his best to be as much help as he possibly could to his auntie and sister whom he lived with afterward. He had to ask a lot of questions to understand what was needed of him.

Soon also developing into goofing off and positive affirmations he knew his sister needed to hear as she did her best to be the adult of the two of them being 7 years older than him.

And once he started speaking he gradually realized how good it felt to laugh and be loud and boisterous. Developing into the goofy extrovert he is now in his 20s. Unafraid to make a fool of himself if it will make someone smile.
