Thoughts on amare and otome genre

I feel like the otome genre is slowly being diminished by being incorrectly tagged under amare games. Genres are important to categorize different types of medias. Otoge only have female heroines, ranging from feminine women to tomboys. Gender and pronounce ARE IMPORTANT in distinguishing otome and amare!!!!

People twist this notion to seem like otoge community is trying to be discriminatory towards lgbtq+, which is false. They just don't want the existence of a female heroine to be questioned and removed.

I see arguments that games are tagged under both genres because otome is much more popular than amare. That energy should be put into making more amare games to cater to a wider audience.

sorry for the sudden rant, it's exhausting when the same discourse is brought up time and time again and the fact people easily dismiss the importance of genre.

otoge are already niche in of itself, so it's important to respect both lanes.

Male mc in galge games are rarely questioned, so it feels biased to have the otome genre change to cater to others preferences

By the way, @cactobutt gave me a gift last year...

I actually wanted to paint my walls, but Cactus attacked it first, lol. Also! Dream, Blue, Nightmare, Horror, Red, and Classic all have glow in the dark paint on their eyes and.... Um, that was a bad idea cause at night.... It's pretty spooky 😅

Oh, and Killer's soul has glow in the dark paint as well, but it's not very vibrant.

Fresh, Ink, and Cross are in the corner and are not finished yet. Cactus is just a very busy girl. Error also isn't completely finished either.

Killer was added late last year; and random note that you probably don't care to know??? Horror was the first up on my wall, lol. Cactus had the sketches done within an hour and half?

She's the best and is only getting better!

Another note, she will draw for the story I've been working on with her, "Monstrous Multiverse" which I do have the first chapter on my Tumblr somewhere, but I am currently reworking the story. Atara is her oc, Lily and Felix (and Kai) are mine.

Sorry for the rather random post in Fafner tag but I just wanted to share this; The only piece of merchandise I have from the series, one which remains to be the only piece of merch I've ever seen to this date and I’ve had this seven years aha.

I actually found it completely by accident! Me and a group of friends where regulars at our local library and we played TCGs (trading card games) there because they were nice enough to allow us to use the tables! One of the days one of the librarians mentioned the library had some manga for sale and after looking through the box of books, I found this little treasure and it only cost me £0.50 can you believe? (not to mention it was in top condition, it looked like no body had read it, such a shame q w q)

I doubt this is highly impressive but for me this was like striking gold and it remains today to be one of my favourite possessions and the reason I found this series uwu

My route ranking for amnesia (the otome) games

This is long overdue but I want ramble about my fav routes in the game!

Amnesia memories

My top 3 routes are definitely:

Toma

His route is a guilty pleasure of mine. I love the forbidden love trope, where the LI is in a conflict with himself abt his feelings for the mc. That plus toma's unhinge behaviour was too good. I still get flustered hearing his voicelines till now. Even when it was revealed it was a misunderstanding, I was able to let it slide.

Kent

I know I don't show it but Kent's route is my go-to replay. The slow transition from the cold dude to a lovable gentleman had me MELTING. Not to mention he acts out his jealousy so hilariously. In the main game, he pats the mcs hair roughly and getting mad at ikki walking faster than him in the fd.

Shin

Shin's route was so good too.. I feel like they balance the romance and plot beautifully here. Shin's desire to protect mc made and proved it right is what stuck with me.

Routes that were.. meh

Ukyo

Ukyo is the loml but his main game route was pretty boring. The romance was there in the fragments of past memories. I like the bad endings tho

2. Ikki

I guess I'm just turned off by the fanclub. I like how ikki is a total loser for mc.

Im finally getting the romance I've been pining for this whole time, I am fed well. It's just too cute :( From the text messages, going on simple dates. this is their chance at dating each other after being stuck in a limbo for far too long.

LOVE ura ukyo here and the fact he pines for mc just as much as omote ukyo. Ura's grumpy but caring is so cute..

2. Ikki

That scene where ikki kneeled in front of mcs father was the hottest thing he has done ever. He's also deathly in love with mc, the scheduled hugs is my favourite thing ever.

Literally all of them because I can marry them and relive a new bad endings in the suspense routes LOL
