Imagine proving to Narcissa Black that she can fall in love after all.
“I can’t marry Lucius,” Narcissa told you after a half hour of silence. The way that she looked at you nearly broke your heart. You reached to her, you ran your fingers across her face in the way that you knew that she liked.
“You must,” You told her, sighing. “There’s no way that our parents would let us be together ... this is your chance to find happiness. Perhaps you may even find some love along the way, no matter how much you protest that your heart is eternally closed.”
“But I’ve fallen in love with you!” Narcissa admitted, tears developing in her blue eyes. You smiled at that admission, having wanted to hear it for so long.
“I like proving you wrong. You’re worthy of love, and I’ll hold that close to my heart forever. You’re not entirely losing me, I’ll still be your ...” It hurt to say the next word. “Friend.”
“I just can’t leave you for that horrible-”
“You may grow to love him in time, and the children he’ll give you. I promise you that. You’re capable.”
