Jade’s fluffy ears perked up at the sound of an unfamiliar voice filling her ears. Sniffing the air and turning to face the direction that the sound had came from, she was hit with a surprising scent. Ugh, the overwhelming smell of fish shocked her and caused her mouth to turn down into a grimace. One drawback of her increased senses, unpleasant smells were always so much worse. Finding herself facing an unrecognizable troll, she was a bit unsure of how to proceed. She’d only met a handful of the trolls in person before, and she was certain she wouldn’t have forgotten this one. Supressing her giggles over his goofy attire, Jade was about to speak, but he beat her to it.
A bit taken aback by the troll’s demanding tone, Jade paused a moment before responding. This guy suddenly reminded her a little too much of a rude purple text she had encountered during the game. Actually, she suspected this was the same guy. His extravagant cape made a little more sense if that were the case. She only slightly recalled the conversation that they had. The two things that had stuck in her mind were his shitty gun and his even worse attitude! About to give him a curt answer, Jade reconsidered. There always was the possibility this guy had changed, or at least, was a little less rude before. Plus, she usually enjoyed the company she made in dream bubbles! At least she could give him a chance before letting her previous bias’ get to her.
“I really don’t know anything, I just woke up!” Jade responded. It was the best response she could come up with quickly, and it was the truth too! In fact, she wasn’t really sure she could remember what was going on before she woke up in this dream bubble! Jade doubted that this guy had any more idea what was happening than she did, but it was worth a shot.
“Do you have any idea where we are?” Jade patiently waiting for a response, trying not to let her curiosity get the best of her.
A grimace crossed his face. Why should he have expected anything more from her? He sighed, crossing his arms. Before he could report his discontent with her lack of information, Jade continued with a question of her own. Of course, Eridan had varying hypotheses as to their current state, but nothing solid. He paused for a moment… Jade had to be sleeping if she was in this dream bubble, seeing as behind her round lenses her eyes glowed brightly with life’s radiance as every other living dreamer’s did. Uncrossing his arms, he stuffed one hand in his pocket and the other he held in the air with a shrug.
“I got nothin’, I mean w-what could this place be… if it’s dream bubble, it’s definitely not somethin’ this wersion ah’ me remembers. Could be some w-weird paradox space thin’ again I suppose…”
Eridan said it could be a dream bubble, but wasn’t sure if he quite believed it. But what else could it be?
“I just w-woke up too.” He added, remembering her sharp answer. As if this information would help them figure this all out… It struck Eridan that a strategically planned investigation may be just the thing to do. While investigating was more Terezi’s style, Eridan certainly considered himself a strategist. And honestly, how hard can anything *really* be when you are a mastermind strategist. His devotion to military and historical literature was going to pay off now, if not only to discover the nature of his surrounding but to at least serve as entertainment. The dream bubbles could be awful droll at times. If this was just another dream bubble he may as well spend it with company, even if that company was a legendary-weapon-hating-god-dog-human-girl. He tightened his lip for a moment, but a second later released it. If this was going to work he was going to have to save his grudges for later.
“Jade Harley. I am giwin’ you a second chance.” He pulled his harpoon-rifle from his hip and into the cradle of his arm. “w-we’re goin’ to inwestigate until w-we crack this bitch. W-we w-will need to plan our course ah’ action wery carefully. You w-with me, human?” He always was one for grandeur.
