not to add to your distractions but if your characters were gym leaders what type would their gyms be?

Nargazzut gra-??? (Nerevarine) - Water/Psychic gym leader. It's on an island in the middle of a lake, it's very serene, there are trainers and pokémon playing gentle music and are having a fun time, but there's definitely a surreal quality to it - like it's always dusk, the sun never quite sets, and her gym is very maze like. You could get lost there

Ysamyne Montrose (HoK) - Ghost gym leader, with dark & water types in there too. Her gym would appear to be an abandoned ruin half-swallowed by a swamp and everything is covered in a strange mist and it's perpetually raining. Despite like, absolutely refusing to become Sheogorath and ditching the mantle plan, it's very much Southern Morrowind crossed with Dementia from the Shivering Isles.

Revas Hlaalu Arethi (dragonborn) - honestly he's more of a pokémon ranger than a gym leader but I imagine it's out in the frozen wastes somewhere and you spend ages and ages on this long mountain route encountering these really fierce ice and steel pokémon and you get there and you find this dork in trying to figure out an ancient dwemer machine with no clue in hell what he's doing with a baby dratini, a bunch of random bug pokémon, a really shy ampharos, and one ninetails who can actually fight to finish off. Tbh he doesn't really do type consistency much but he's not the traditional very Nord steel/ice/rock guy. People joke he's the gym leader than teaches you the journey is as important as the destination.

Kasmei-lai (vestige) - Dark/Steel type gym in an abandoned sewer of Clockwork City expropriated and transformed into a shelter for "weird" or "ugly" "reject" pokémon that have been abandoned. Kas fucking adores them and has found her calling looking after these guys. Can 100% crush you, known for being one of the hardest gym to beat, and would probably be in the elite four if it werent for the fact that she loves her gym.

Bthemetz (bolshie dwarf who unintentionally wrecked the 1st council) - honestly I can see her also being elite four as well? But back in the day she was probably.... Dragon type gym with a bunch of difficult OP pokémon because she loves something than can kick your ass and is big into competitive battling. Probably like slap bam in the middle of a city.

🖊 Narga

Narga is the OC I change my mind about the most. The arc she goes through is about recovery from the brink - from the lowest of lows - and thriving in spite of suffering, being brave despite being terrified. So in a lot of ways I find it difficult to know what comes after. Because ultimately I want her to be happy - she is the softest of my OCs, the warmest to people, with a genuine love and enthusiasm about the world, but she is afraid of making permanent connections with others, keeps distance, doesn't keep in touch, and constantly wanders. This is one of my own flaws and longest battles so I find it difficult to reconcile that flaw with a happy ending.

I have several AUs though

The standard story is that she simply wanders as a travelling musician after being effectively made immortal by the trials of the nerevarine. She does good deeds while she travels and helps passing villagers but never lingers. She runs into ysamyne more than once as they're both interested in arcane oddities and develop a respect for each other, a strange rivalry, and maybe some tension, but it never goes anywhere because their meetings are so fleeting.

There's one AU where she and vivec become close and instead of a few letters after her enraged post-red mountain battle in vivec's temple, there are in fact many, and she accompanies them to Akavir where they spend their final days travelling, singing, sharing poems and stories.

There's an AU where she trains Revas in magic for a time before disappearing mysteriously and he tracks her down 50 years later to find she hasn't aged a moment

There's an AU where she rallies a lot of drifting orcs and ex-legionnaires against the thalmor and builds a fortress city in the mountains, a new orsinium. This is very wishful thinking and or is like... 300 years of character development down the line after she stops drifting and realises she wants to commit to something. This also plays into nerevar parallels despite absolutely not being the true nerevarine.

There's an erased memory AU where she requests to vivec that they reshape the world so she never suffered so much and rewrites things as to make Narga arrive mysteriously into the psijics order and get adopted by them. And we flash back to Narga in 2E500~ where she's a brilliant psijics monk. But traces of the past still linger - she's still lost her arm from the dagoth ur fight, for example. Also ysamyne is there, ironically as a belligerent member of the mages guild who managed to sail to arteum one time and sneaks into her room with contraband from outside and takes of adventure. They fall utterly in love unaware of the fact that it almost happened before, circumstances preventing them.

There's also the end of the world end of kalpa AU where ysamyne and Narga meet belatedly and everything's a wreck and the dragons are gonna devour it all and they fall in love despite the shitty circumstances.

thinking about how narga’s journals begin as painfully honest unsent letters to the priory where she grew up, asking really difficult questions about her life in the legion, how faith can persevere during warfare and conquest, can dead gods help with traumatic experiences, what do gods think of mortals, really, and their pain

and as she grew more and more dissatisfied with the answers she dreamt up in responses, as she deserted the army and ran across her continent, she crossed out the addresses and she began writing to others - her dead mother, the comrades she left behind, people she briefly met in inns and cornerclubs, gods she worshipped, gods she didn’t, the tribunal themselves - especially vivec, whose writings quietly inspired her - as her journals began filled with other things, recipes, sketches - of botany mostly but sometimes of people, to-do lists, musical scores, instructions on how to tune a lute, her interest in the world around her insatiable -

after red mountain, after dragging the body of “the nerevarine” back to morrowind alone, after having an angry breakdown in vivec’s temple, and her writing became more mysterious, more poetic, shorter, the questions now unasked, only implied, she moves from place to place without pause, never lingers, she still smiles of course - still plays songs - but she always disappears, as the echoes become longer. by the time her poetry is renowned, famous, she’s barely a whisper in the shadows. a mirage.

On the carved steps up to the Holamayan Monstery, while waiting for first light, at around 4 in the morning - a starless night, a miserable night - Julan tells Narga about how his mother used to hide and sometimes burn his books because she hated how he could read words she couldn't understand. I imagine the conversation looked like this.

1, 5 & 34 for Narga?

1. Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with? 

Narga doesn’t know her family at all. Her mother was an orc exile who died of a plague when she was just year old, she was brought up by the church/on the streets (it was.... complicated) of a coastal town in Daggerfall.... no siblings, either, none that she knows of. (She considers Julan to be her little brother though).

5. On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?

This is more her pack (because I got carried away), but: a simple hairpin, a fancy ornamental hairpin that can double as a knife, a mortar and pestle, little samples of mushrooms and herbs and flowers from the local area, a jar of ash-yam jelly she found at a market, a snack in case she gets peckish, charcoal for sketching, a battered but carefully bound sketchbook and journal, scraps of paper, spare earrings, and maybe a handkerchief? I think she’s a handkerchief person, even if she fights with a battle axe.

34. Is your character more likely to keep trying a solution/method that didn’t work the first time, or immediately move on to a different solution/method? 

Narga comes up with about ten solutions to a simple problem so she would absolutely move on. She’s very much of the school of thinking outside of the box.

I'm imagining Narga somehow getting transported through space and time and arriving at the gates of Orsinium and just... wandering through the city, mouth agape, in absolute awe and amazement and just... and by the time she reaches the keep she's in tears because she never imagined something so... and this is her people! her people who built it! all she ever wanted to find was a place she could belong and ... maybe, maybe, she lets that little piece of hope she thought she'd buried when red mountain burned, maybe this could be it

Nargazzut has the coolest relationship with Malacath. See Narga travels a lot, and goes to an orc stronghold because she gets a hyperfixation on weapon smithing and a particular type of battleaxe. She stays there for months and becomes part of the community there, is respected for her strength and wisdom even if she's really weird and dreamy and only half-there.

So the first time she gets in touch Malacath it's with a ceremony with the stronghold - like a festival or some such thing - and he treats her like a lost family member who has come home.... just goes full protective orc dad on her like 'I don't care if your Nerevar or not your an orc now so you're one of mine'... and he is really really enraged at Azura for giving one of His people all this traumatic baggage and using her to enact her vengeance... like Malacath doesn't give a shit frankly but keep his people out of your petty dunmer politics thanks.

Rels actually existed before Nargazzut, it’s just I haven’t actually talked about him unitl now. They have a bickering sibling relationship where they don’t naturally get on at first but by the end of everything they would genuinely die for each other.
