Peter was my favorite Narnia character as a child. I simply adored him, but I don’t think I ever had a crush on him. I think I always wanted to be him. But I absolutely loved him. I named my imaginary friends after him. He was high key my favorite.
Then I got a little older and cishet normativity convinced me my favorite characters needed to be girls, so I claimed Jill Pole and Aravis Tarkheena as my favorites.
Now I’m an adult and I find that the older I get the more I like Edmond, and now he is my favorite. As I mature I find I understand him better, and I have more appreciation for the depth of his character.
As for Peter, while he may no longer be my favorite, he still holds a special place in my heart, and I think he always will.
