it’s depressing the number of faces
angela recognizes from the last time
she attended ONE of these meetings;
apparently, they hadn’t helped any-
one else EITHER. but she does see a
new face, & ever the go getter, takes
a seat near him. it’s BETTER than
hearing depressing small talk from a
face that’s familiar.
oh, bitch… you’re in for it now. let me get into this ——
first of all, this is so very au, because, lbr. stella, having children? she’d never have her own children. never wanted to, never had any desires to for so many different reasons. also this got so long, rip to me and you.
anyways, she has a six year old daughter named cordelia ( she calls her cora occasionally. ) why did stella choose this name? well, there’s a lot of different meanings for the name, but it pretty much means ‘ heart or daughter of the sea ’ / ‘ jewel of the sea ’. and, well, the ocean and stella? it’s where her hearts at, it’s the one thing that means the most and keeps her calm. which, is fitting since her daughter became the new thing that meant the world to her and made her calm. so it felt right to name her something that held such a meaning to her.
she had her six years before the events of season one. it happened on a sweet night. so, she didn’t know him, complete stranger she’d picked up in a bar. condoms break, and instead of aborting the child, something in stella made her want to keep and raise this child. the father didn’t want any involvement, and stella wasn’t going to force it. she’ll explain the circumstances to cora when she’s old enough to understand, for now she doesn’t want to break her daughters heart and have cora face the same sufferings she did with her own father.
she also didn’t bring cora with her to belfast, she stayed back in london with a nanny since stella’s time in belfast was meant to be a short stay, so she didn’t want to pull her daughter from school and be stuck in hotel rooms or police buildings. of course her time became longer in belfast, so she’d make trips back to london every weekend to see and spend time with her daughter. because although work is important to her, and of course a passion. her daughter also means everything to her, and she refuses to be an absent parent or have her daughter feeling as though she doesn’t care.
she also hasn’t told anyone she has a daughter. she doesn’t want peoples views to change, they already look at her as a liability for merely being a woman, she won’t add single mother to that. she also doesn’t bring her sweet nights home, ( she may be a mother, but girl still needs that fix. ) she’ll always go to hotels. she’s not going to have people coming in and out of her daughters life. she won’t even say she has a daughter if she does develop ‘some’ time of relationship with someone. it could be a year later ( or months, depends on the person / situation, etc. ) and she’d suddenly say one day ‘ oh, btw, i have a six year old daughter. ’ and if she cares deeply for you ( romantic or platonic. ) then she’d introduce.
stella is a pretty hands on mother. she does work a lot, but she will bring work home if need be. she takes her daughter to school every morning, makes sure to tuck her in and read her a bedtime story at night. she’ll spend holidays and weekends just the two of them. if cora is sick, stella will work from home. stella also sucks it up and goes to pta meetings, conversing with other parents in order for cora’s sake. she literally hates every other parent, and having to do bake sales, school trips, playdate, etc. but, she does it for cora. she really wants to be present in her child’s life.
cora is literally a mini stella. bright blue eyes, sandy blonde hair, porcelain skin with very prominent freckles and a smile that tells you they can do anything. but, cora is as sassy, stubborn and blunt as stella is. just slightly more g-rated.
but also just a few cute mum!stella things, cora and stella have ‘sweet days’, ( cora overheard stella say the word sweet night one time. ) where they’ll spend all day in their pajamas, doing whatever cora wants. which is usually just watching films.
stella isn’t a crier and can usually keep it in, but oh boy after cora was born she was crying at every milestone. especially when cora called her ‘mum’ for the first time. speaking of milestones, she has a baby book overflowing of literally everything from cora’s birth to her first day of school. for someone who isn’t sentimental stella is a complete sucker.
she does cora’s hair every morning and shows her how each time; sometimes they’re late for school because stella lets cora try doing it herself.
they have tea parties, and you know stella got the most perfect and realistic fairy-tale tea party set, all the essentials included. nothing but the best for miss cordelia gibson.
she taught cora how to swim, and they go swimming / to the beach as regularly as they can. sometimes they even have competitions. ( and yes stella has most definitely been that parent to not go easy and make their child cry by saying ‘ you can’t always win ’ like shut up stella. )
cora may have stella wrapped around her finger at times, but stella is still very real and raw and cora is the most polite and well behaved child. ( secretly destructive and sassy. )
i made a cute section in my board for stella, look at cute mama!stell.
anyways that’s it, that’s all i got. mum!stella is the cutest thing. and her daughter is very well educated and a complete feminist and has most definitely gotten in trouble for punching a boy square in the nose.

les has been on hold since he pressed the button for his floor, which has allowed him to conduct a fun little social experiment. every day, he enters cursing into his phone, distracted beyond retrieval. he hasn’t failed to notice, however, that every day, this individual joins him. has long since given him the impression of someone itching to introduce themselves.
he fakes the call as they descend: ‘mmhm’s and ‘no’s and enough ‘fuck’s to keep it convincing.
and this guy, from stories high right down to the lobby, has allowed his gaze to wander toward and linger on lesley for a suspect amount of time. he turns his phone into his shoulder, draws his eyebrows to his hairline, and looks at him, properly, for the first time. smug as fucking ever.
A ROLL OF HER EYES , an air of annoyance , she’s never been one for political correctness or proper titles. people get respect once they earn it , it is not a luxury extended to everyone. ❛ what's wrong with the word ' indian ' ? huh , well let's just call the DINOSAURS native americans while we're at it , then. ❜ / @narractor ( sc. )
