Narrian Folklore 🔆
“Long ago, there once existed an island somewhere in the Sulu sea called Narra. Its history and culture would have been completely lost to time if it had not been for a small obscure book that contained stories of the four great spirits...”
I recently got interested in learning about the mythology surrounding my country and wanted to make a mythology & folklore inspired by it.
*Note: I say inspired rather than fully based off from, as I borrowed aspects of each region while also combining my own—essentially making it its own thing but still rooted in actual Philippine Mythology and culture
Back on Topic:
The four great spirits were originally formed from Talamat (the creator of all life according to Narra) but one day she fell asleep and accidentally cut her fingers. These fingers spread to different parts of the archipelago but they eventually returned back to the island protecting its mortals
OH AND THEY’RE ALSO BASED OFF OF BIRDS BECAUSE ITS COOL LOL
These are two are Elio and Durga! they both come from the North (Luzon) and East (Visayas). They represent the aspect of preservation and sustenance. Elio is based off an owl while Durga’s is an eagle!
I forgot to draw Veer and Lan but im too lazy to do it now
Over here is their bird forms lol
