Narrow Paths Lead To Wide Places!
PERSPECTIVE MATTERS...
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.” ~ Matthew 7:19
One thing is for certain: God’s ways are not our ways; His ways are infinitely higher than ours. He said so Himself: “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9). This precept then is certainly true where it pertains to success. All things being equal, God’s perspective concerning our success is infinitely higher than our own perspective concerning success.
I’ve had some interesting conversations back and forth with people both in and out of the Kingdom of God concerning the pursuit and acquisition of wealth, in particular investing in questionable assets like cryptocurrency such as bitcoin. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency and worldwide payment system. It is the first decentralized digital currency, as the system works without a central bank or single administrator. The network is peer-to-peer and transactions take place between users directly through the use of cryptography, without an intermediary. These transactions are verified by network nodes and recorded in a public distributed ledger called a blockchain. Bitcoin was invented by an unknown person or group of people under the name Satoshi Nakamoto and released as open-source software in 2009.
Bitcoin is an unregulated, non-governmental currency that has become the payment system of choice for every illegal, immoral and disreputable business transaction that you can imagine, from human sex trafficking to drug smuggling to the arming of terrorist organizations and every questionable transaction requiring secrecy in between. Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is the payment system for the kingdom of darkness, period. To participate in such an economic system is to participate in the economy of the kingdom of darkness. No bonafide citizen of the Kingdom of God should even desire to participate in, much less profit from, such dark enterprise. The Word of God offers us this wise Kingdom counsel: “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them” (Ephesians 5:11). Consider this me being used by God to expose the “unfruitful works of darkness” inherent in cryptocurrency such as bitcoin. Scoffers may scoff, but there is no compromise of truth in the Word of God.
The recent mind-blowing gains in bitcoin trading pegged to the U.S. dollar has caught the attention of many Christians looking to make a profit. But at what cost? Thirty years of financial services career and life experience have taught me that desperate people will justify desperate measures to access what they perceive they need. Jesus has an answer to our financial desperation and our desperate ambitions: “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” (Mark 8:36). There simply are some gains that will only lead to our being set up for a set back. In pursuit of worldly success, we must be mindful of what God considers success to be and what success God’s way looks like and results in.
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” ~ Joshua 1:8
God’s Word is clear in clarifying what His ways ultimately lead to: “The blessing of the LORD makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22). Success from God’s perspective results in your profiting in perfect peace without regret or sorrow. That level of success that results in your peace does not come from following the dictates of the world, but rather following the leading of the Lord. Following the Lord will result in your leading as the head, not following as the tail. It will result in your being a leader and a lender, not a follower and a borrower.
Watch the world run to chase worldly wealth and secular success without any regard to the will of God to their eventual pain and regret. They are simply being warmed to the idea of running likewise to receive the mark of the beast and every manner of deception that the loving Word of God has warned Kingdom people like you and I to resist and avoid for our profit and peace. People who profit but lack peace come to realize the value of peace as the priceless commodity that it is. All the money in the world cannot buy you peace or the salvation of the Lord from which perfect peace comes.
The promise of God to His promised people teaches us that the narrow paths that the Lord demands us to walk leads us to wide places of prosperity - which is just another English translation of the Hebrew word, “shalom” meaning peace and Greek word, “euodoo” meaning help on the road or succeed in reaching. Narrow is the way that leads to a prosperous life of wide places on which to stand firm and increase God’s way. God will not compromise His truth for your comfort. By the same token, don’t compromise His truth for your comfort either. Don’t participate in what the world is flocking to because that’s where they say the wealth is. The wealth you really want is not in the world, it is in Christ and the sanctuary of His peaceable Kingdom. The road less travelled leads to assets less accessed. To profit in peace is God’s will for your life. This is God’s perspective concerning your success. And only God’s Perspective Matters...
