Niall Horan - Harry Flirts with Niall’s Girlfriend Imagine
[I thought the gif of them fit so I decided to use it instead of a picture. haha. Enjoy, loves!]
Harry recognized you as soon as he saw you seated there at the bar, a drink in hand as you laughed with a friend. He had just watched your new movie a few days ago and had instantly gotten a crush on you. You had been so beautiful and now here in front of him you were even more so. He knew he needed to go talk to you. He’d already slightly looked into you and had seen you weren’t linked to a boyfriend at the moment so maybe now was his chance.
You turn your eyes towards him as he begins to walk across the room towards you and he sees your smile falter a bit, instantly worrying him for a split second. Did you not want to talk to him, he feared, but then you smile again so he continues on towards you.
“Well, hello.” You greet. You and your friend exchange grins before she stands up and takes her leave, offering her seat to Harry who takes it gratefully.
“Great job in your new movie.” He tells you. You laugh and nod. “I’m Harry, by the way.”
“Thank you, praise is always appreciated. And I already know who you are, big shot rockstar.” He smirks and takes a sip of his drink, eyeing you over the rim of his glass. You may have known him for other reasons but you weren’t going to reveal that.
“I jus’ also have to say that you are completely gorgeous.” He compliments, causing a small blush to creep up on your face. You knew you shouldn’t allow this to continue as unbeknownst to the public you were in fact in a relationship, and it also just happened to be Harry’s best friend and band mate Niall Horan. The two of you had just kept it all a secret for now.
“Well aren’t you just a gentleman, paying a lady all sorts of compliments.” You smirk right back at him, realizing that the alcohol may have been clouding your judgement just a bit more than you had originally noticed. “Though, I’d be lying if I said you weren’t incredibly handsome yourself.” You can’t believe you just said that to someone who wasn’t your boyfriend - and his best friend none the less but Harry’s smirk was pulling you in.
“Can I buy you a drink?” Harry asks, reaching over to rest his large ringed hand on your thigh, his fingers brushing along the edge of your dress, causing shivers to run up your spine at the feel of his hands on you. That’s when you realized this was a bit much and snapped to your senses.
“I have a confession to make.” You tell him, resting your hand over his to stop him from wandering up higher.
“And what’s that, love?” He asked, a small smirk on his lips but then he frowns when you move his hand from your lap to rest back in his own and pull away from him completely, leaning away a bit.
“I am actually seeing someone.” You confess and see the frown increase on his face. A deep crease forms between his brows, his green eyes clouded with disappointment.
“You’ve never been seen with anyone.” You sigh and nod, biting at your lip. You wanted to tell him who it was but knew it wasn’t your place since Niall was his friend and it should be him to tell him but you knew you would be going to Niall that night to finally convince him that it was time to come clean.
“We’ve been keeping it a secret until we knew it was something serious. We don’t care much for the public to be in our personal lives and spreading rumors while we get to know each other.” You explain. No one knew about the two of you apart from your mother simply because you hadn’t been able to stop from gushing about Niall to her and knew she would keep it a secret. You’d even agreed to keep it from your friends just to make sure it didn’t get out until you wanted it to.
“Well, he’s a very lucky man.” Harry gives you a soft smile, trying to hide his clear disappointment but you picked up on it none the less. “Why isn’t he here tonight?” You knew you had to be careful answering this as Harry may know the real reason Niall was at home tonight - he was sick, so he may catch on and put it all together.
“He’s out of town.” You lie, knowing full well that Niall was curled up in bed watching golf right now. You’d been taking care of him all day until he pretty much forced you to go out for the girls night you’d planned weeks ago with the friends that were in town for the first time in weeks. You’d refused at first but he wouldn’t let it go so you gave in but didn’t plan on staying long.
“How unfortunate.” Though Harry didn’t seem the least bit to care that your boyfriend was ‘out of town’. Truthfully, in Harry’s mind, for a split second he thought that meant he might just have a chance with you, at least for one night.
“I should actually get going. I have an early meeting tomorrow.” You fib, placing your empty drink glass on the bar and stand. Harry stands as well. “It was nice meeting you, Harry.”
For the rest of the night, after watching you leave the bar, Harry continued to think about you. Even hours later when he was alone in his bed, staring at the ceiling. He’d hoped to end the night with you beside him but instead you’d left him hastily. He thought maybe you were lying, telling him you were seeing someone just to get him to leave you alone and the thought upset him more than anything. Why didn’t you like him? Or did you really have a boyfriend that you wanted to stay faithful to? Harry guessed he would find out if you ever came out to be in a relationship soon.
The next day, as he got ready to go meet Niall for lunch, he thought about contacting some acting friends in hopes of maybe getting your number or finding out if you were going to be at any events soon that he could maybe run into you at. He just couldn’t stop thinking about you and it was driving him insane. He shouldn’t be thinking about a taken woman like that but he couldn’t help himself.
When he arrived at the restaurant he and Niall had decided on, as he approached the table he saw a girl sitting beside Niall, their back to him. Harry frowned, knowing that Niall didn’t have a girlfriend and hadn’t mentioned bringing anyone with him. That hair looked familiar though and as he watched her lean over to press a kiss to Niall’s cheek, he immediately recognized your profile.
He comes to a stop right there between two tables, a deep frown on his face. Was Niall the secret boyfriend Y/N had? You had said he was out of town but Harry knew for a fact that Niall was home sick last night as he’d tried to get him to go out with him and had heard how sick he was over the phone. She must have lied so Harry wouldn’t catch on, he realized.
“Harry?” Harry realized then that he had been spotted by you and Niall so he continued making his way over and slid into the booth across from them. The two of you exchanged looks before Niall began to speak again. “I know this was just supposed to be us but Y/N convinced me that it was time we stopped being a secret, especially after last night.” Harry had hoped you hadn’t told Niall about him flirting with him but obviously you had.
“Look, I’m sorry. If I had known I would never have...” Harry’s face felt so warm, knowing his cheeks were flushed. He glanced over at you before looking down at the table, picking at the corner of his napkin.
“Harry, mate, it’s alright. You didn’t know. I should have told you. We just didn’t want anyone to know until we really knew it was real.” Niall explains, reaching over to take your hand in his. You smile over at him. “Me realizing that guys not knowing she was taken was too much of an invitation to hit on her so we decided it was time. We wanted you to be the first to know.”
“Only because I tried to get with her last night.” Harry joked but still felt humiliated. He had flirted with, and then spent all night and morning thinking about his best friends girlfriend. He’d even been thinking of ways to get in touch with you to have another go and make an attempt to break up you and this mysterious boyfriend. “Really am sorry, mate.” He shakes his head, feeling that blush creeping back.
“Hey, she’s beautiful, I can’t blame you.” Harry actually lets out a laugh now and looks at you, making eye contact once more. You smile at him, trying to get him to see that there was no reason to be awkward.
“So, we’re good then?” Harry asks, looking back at Niall who laughs and nods.
“O’course, mate.” Niall lifts a hand towards Harry who grins and takes it. You laugh as you watch the two of them do some kind of weird ‘bro’ handshake, clearly having everything resolved.
“Now tell me, how did you land her?” Harry eventually asks after you all order and make small talk.
“At a party. We shared a few drinks and then decided to go back to her place to talk in private. Kind of been inseparable ever since.” Niall explains, shrugging a bit as he smiles over at you. “That was 6 months ago.”
“You’ve been hiding a relationship from us for six months?!” Harry exclaims. How on earth had Niall managed that? Usually secrets came out within days with him and really any other person in the spotlight. Let alone two of them, especially when one just released a movie.
“We just made sure we were never seen in public together.” You explain. “It was hard, really hard, but it clearly worked out. But we’ve decided we don’t care anymore. We want everyone to know.” Niall grins and wraps his arm around your shoulders, pulling you against him.
“As much as I wish you’d been single last night, I am happy for you two. You guys are cute.” Harry tells them, meaning it. Sure, he still felt a bit let down at the thought that he couldn’t have a chance with you but if anyone deserved to, it was Niall.
