Heyyyy heyyy I have a bunch of new headcanons!
So!! We all know that Narumi was around age 11 when he met Guren, during Sakae Ichinose’s funerals, right? And we all know that the apocalypse happened like, a few months after. Narumi was still 11, u feel me? And right here it says that he and Shusaku made a dangerous journey to Shibuya to join the JIDA....
It means that a 11 years old Narumi and a 10 years old Shusaku actually walked an incredible distance together, alone in a world ravaged by the apocalypse and the horsemen of john. In case you do not realize how long that travel was... let me show you.
Here is a map of Japan as well as a couple of possible options for their travels. Going into a straight line was impossible because halfway between Shibuya and Nagoya, there’s a set of mountains and it’s impossible that two kids like Shusaku and Narumi could possibly cross them without equipment to do so. Which is why they have to walk around them. Which means that their two options are to either go deep in the country (passing by Ina, Kofu) or follow the seaside. I will headcanon straight away that they followed the seaside as it is the easiest way to find Shibuya if you’re a 10-11 years old kid that can only remember that Shibuya’s close to the sea. Why bother going inland when you know you’re gonna have to go seaside anyway? It also happen that seaside is the shortest way to get to Shibuya.
And by shortest, I mean 70 hours of walk thanks to google. I don’t know about you, but 70 hours of walking is close to 3 entire days of walk without stopping. Considering that google probably calculated for an adult, I’m going to add some hours to that. We’re still talking about preteens here. I don’t think I would be too far off my mark if I said that in total, Narumi and Shusaku’s travel took around a week, give or take a day or two.
They can’t possibly walk 72 hours without sleeping, eating, drinking so I will headcanon that it took them at least twice as long to reach destination, if only because they needed at least 5-6 hours of sleep each days, 5-6 hours of fishing/hunting/scavenging for food and thirst needs. Which leaves them still 12 hours a day for walking= 6 days in total for the 72 hours distance. Except that I added a day or two to that because there’s no way that things were this smooth and easy.
They most likely had to fight/run away from Horsemen of John. Which most likely slowed them down greatly.
I will also headcanon right here, right there that Narumi is a great hunter/fisherman. His name means ‘’Honesty(Makoto) of the Ocean(Narumi)’’ so they probably fed off fishes before the sea turned into a blood red color and was inhabited by monsters (which was confirmed in chap.43)
Also, if you don’t think that boy’s survival instinct is strong, get out of my face. I don’t know a lot of 10-11 years old who would walk around a third of Japan’s length to survive the apocalypse. Bye.
