Hoshikaf - Hoshina. It was damn near love at first laugh. Pretty much instant attraction. In my head, Hoshina is kinda crazy about Kafka.
Hoshimina - Mina. This might be a controversial take but listen, Mina noticed Hoshina in a sea of other officers during joint training and said to herself "I will have him." Then she asked him not once but TWICE to join her. She's never let him go since.
Narukaf - Kafka. When they met, Kafka had a lot of respect for Narumi, and he CONTINUED to have respect for him after seeing Narumi's genuine personality (and that's so wild tbh).
Narunogi - Narumi. All Konomi did was say hi and he's already hard. Meanwhile, she probably hasn't ever thought about him before...
Narunaru - Both? Idk they're so ridiculous. It's like watching a train wreck but it's toy trains in the middle of your living room on a track made of legos.

Gen starts off not liking Kafka but as of ch 119 it appears that Gen has warmed up to him (he grins rather widely at Kafka swooping in to save him).
Gen asks Kafka to stay and help fight No. 9.
Narukaf did secret one-on-one training in preparation for the No. 9 fight. And they could've done anything during that time.
Gen's catchphrase: "Show me your skills"/"Show me results" can be spun to mean "You have to earn me" for shippers who like the idea of Kafka working to win Gen over.
Both gamers! Retro (Kafka) vs Modern (Gen).
Both monsters!! Human that fights like a monster (Gen) x Monster that loves like a human (Kafka).

Hoshikaf/Kafhoshi - If KN8 were a BL, they would be endgame. (This is my favorite KN8 ship!!!!)
Soshiro thinks Kafka is funny! So much so, that he hires Kafka as comic relief. (see image below!)
Kafka starts off as a cadet on the Hoshina platoon, at Soshiro's request. Soshiro also has Kafka promoted to regular officer status.
Soshiro is implied across all 3 mangas (Main, B-sides, Relax) to favor Kafka over the other recruits. By a lot.
Soshiro admires Kafka's earnest efforts + Kafka is motivated thanks to Soshiro's unwavering support.
Kafka starts sobbing on the ground when he sees Soshiro for the first time after being taken to the first division. He believes Soshiro is still mad at him for hiding that he was a kaiju. Soshiro not only forgives him but offers to take on No. 9 for Kafka.
Hoshina offers to personally train Kafka for the No. 9 fight. Kafka actively seeks out Soshiro's praise during their sessions.
Kafka is afraid of Soshiro and I'm pretty sure Soshiro's into that??

Hoshimina - What can I say? I'm a sucker for soulmates and these two are very soulmate-shaped!
They complete each other like peanut butter and jelly! They balance each other out in a lot of ways: Guns x swords! Range x Close-combat! Serious x Silly! Low energy x High energy! Emotional (Mina) x Relaxed (Soshiro)!
Mina had faith in Soshiro when no one else would! (Except for Gen, but Soshiro turned down that offer immediately in favor of Mina's)
Soshiro would happily die for Mina (real)
They're funny together! They have snarky humor: Mina leans into being deadpan and Soshiro disguises his teasing with a cheery inflexion.
Close in height! They can kiss so easily!!
