i dropped bleach and naruto at the same time, would look at the tag to see what they were up to sometimes, but those final war arcs were so fucking long that even now, a decade later, i found out more shit they pulled out of their ass and i'm left feeling like that gif of the guy blinking in disbelief...

IT LICHERALLY ONLY GETS WORSE. i dont blame you for dropping them, they are some of the worst ending arcs of all time 😂😂

thinking about madara and how kishi and the burrito writers stripped all the mythological intrigue of the narutoverse for what? to justify a war machine? to promote jingoism? to pretend like madara did what he did cuz of the moon lady and not because he was a soldier for most of his life and didn’t think hashirama’s brand of fascism was the answer to peace? madara was so damn scary half the time BECAUSE he knew how dirty the shinobi nations really were, caught them slipping, and realized the only solution to war and fascism and child soldiers and murder and human trafficking and slavery was an eternity spent under an illusion cuz he had NO other answer for all the horrors in the world, a lot of it pushed by konoha to maintain its power, so he went straight to option #8991 and tried to implement a universal illusion cuz nobody socialized his ass after the wars, NOBODY PUT HIS ASS IN THERAPY AND HELPED HIM HEAL, CUZ NOBODY TRIED TEACHING HIM SOMETHING BEYOND WAR AND POLITICS SO HE CONTINUED THE VICIOUS CYCLE AND MANIPULATED PEOPLE LIKE OBITO, CUZ NOBODY WANNA TAKE RESPONSIBILITY THAT THERE WERE PROBABLY TEN THOUSAND MADARAS IN EVERY NATION CREATED BY THE WAR ECONOMY, BUT NONE SMART OR POWERFUL ENOUGH TO GET WHERE MADARA DID BUT IF THEY HAD A CHANCE THEY WOULD’VE, AKA NAGATO WAS RIGHT FROM THE START

the fact that madara kidnapped, manipulated, and put the cursed seal on obito because he had a huge capacity for love and empathy is the greatest tragedy of the narutoverse because it was madara’s way of proving that no amount of kindness and genuine humility could survive the war crimes perpetuated by the shinobi system, like obito was a controlled experiment for madara to prove that not even a child who harbors intense love and empathy in a time of war would be free from the hatred that comes with realizing all the sacrifices of war are meaningless in the long run, like obito’s whole path to becoming tobi/madara may have been pre-planned to mold him into the perfect psychopath, but sakumo’s suicide wasn’t, yahiko’s suicide wasn’t, haku’s suicide wasn’t, so for madara to wake up to obito carrying on his will is so poignant bc it didn’t even have to go that way.

obito coulda fell off, he coulda died from the cursed seal, zetsu coulda kicked in plan b, but madara probably knew, he probably knew damn well that even if obito figured out he had a cursed seal on him, he’d go down the same route bc now obito knew the reality of the hell they lived in, and isn’t that what madara tried to show hashirama this whole fucking time??? that the system he was perpetuating as hokage was garbage??? because itachi may have massacred his own family with obito assisting, but it was konoha that gave the order and sat by and did nothing while sasuke descended into madness. kiri established its caste system and practiced its violent militarism before obito slid in and sakumo’s friends turned on him before obito’s baby teeth fell out. like madara may have molded obito into the perfect psychopath, but the rest of the world created Pein, Deidara, Sasori, and every other member of Akatsuki, along with others who directly both opposed the shinobi system or perpetuated it, like Madara wasn’t even alive for most of it, but being the OG petty crackhead that he was, im sure he knew obito wouldn’t need to look far to get all the proof in the world that madara was right and that the whole world was garbage, so yes, what madara did to obito was evil but damn if it didn’t expose every single crime against humanity the shinobi system was capable of committing, and damn if it didn’t prove that even if madara could be blamed for what happened to obito, you couldn’t blame him for nobody else!

he wasn’t the one who established the kiri battle royales where kids had to kill each other to graduate, he didn’t tell sakumo’s friends to shame him into committing suicide, he aint the one who told yahiko to jump on a blade and choose death to ensure his beloved survived, madara did none of that, and yet each and every one of them proved his point time and time again that the narutoverse was a dystopia and somebody had to to something to fix it! moon’s eye plan was a reach, but was it better than knowing that a whole country was havin its kids fight to the death for bragging rights? yes, yes it was.

Yeah I couldn't agree more with how Black Clover failed to live up to its own potential. Like holy shit the series gets tons of writing issues and the more I think about it the more I wonder why I enjoyed the series in the first place. There's just... so much things that need to be explored, so much lore, characters, themes, events, places, But all of this is hard to obtain due to the fast pacing and how Tabata tends to always follow the lazy, easier route with almost every plot.

Personally, I think that’s the curse of most current Shounen Jump manga, which borrow heavily from the themes popular in the Big Three, but then do little to explore said themes in order to evade having to end up in a Naruto-esque situation (aka all is moot when the true villain is the moon lady) or like Bleach (drawn out with a lackluster ending that you generally have to forgive cuz the mangaka almost lost his hands in the process). Like, I get it - Tabata does try, but he almost never delivers, and I think he does it on purpose because it’s easier to take an interesting character and let the fans build around that, rather than take the initiative to focus on the plot and lore in order to give purpose to the characters beyond their heart-wrenching backstory. Like I get it, you can’t talk about rape, murder, and state-sponsored genocide in a publishing house interested in spreading imperial propaganda, but like, I just wish he didn’t pretend like Berserk and Bleach were the cornerstones of his research into creating Black Clover, cuz as a stan of both those behemoths, I can’t help but make the comparison cuz he wanted to use the paradigm, so I have expectations. I mean, I shouldn’t, but if you’re gonna say you gonna write bootleg Berserk, bitch you better write bootleg Berserk.
