Justice for Nassima
For a long time it was illegal for women in Saudi Arabia to drive. It was a right they didn't have, and one that was helped to achieve by a woman named Nassima. Nassima is a prominent activist for women's rights, that they have the right to drive and complete daily tasks without the permission of a male "guardian."
Her efforts have caused the Saudi government to ease these laws but she and others have been jailed.
Nassima protested peacefully and was jailed in Julu 2018. She was placed in solitary confinement for an entire year and is only able to have one phone call a week to her family. But she isn't allowed any vists.
This is inhuman.
This is NOT to be confused as something deemed acceptable by Islam.
It is awful and awareness needs to be raised.
There's a petition circling around to try and get the UK to use its influence at the G20 to get these women out of jail. I'm not sure how much good it will do (given how they don't really care abt what China's doing to Muslims... I say that as a British Muslim) but I have signed it and will link it here if anyone wants to sign it:
