Today I got to have my first “I’m the manager” moment at work and I loved every second of it!
It was a gentleman who’s wife had ordered a burger which takes 25 minutes to cook and they weren’t happy it was taking so long. He’d already said to me during the wait and again when I took the food to their table that it doesn’t take 25 mins to cook a burger and all I said was that “it takes 25 mins to cook OUR burgers”.
He then comes up to the counter to ask for the manager to which I walk out saying “I’m the manager” - the look on his face was priceless! He was actually shaking and was trying to get a rise out of me but I just put on my best Customer Service Face and stayed nice and calm. He was trying to control the situation and obviously get a refund but I wasn’t having any of it - we only refund if they don’t eat the food but she’d eaten all the burger that was apparently ‘overcooked’.
He even tried to throw it in my face that I was texting in the kitchen while they were waiting for their food but as I pointed out to him - I’m not the chef and I was texting the owner to arrange a plumber because one of the urinals was flooding the men’s toilets. He quickly realised after that that he didn’t have a leg to stand on.
I’m so proud of myself :)
