Would you consider tagging your books when you talk about them, or at least pinning a glossary of their titles or something? I have no idea what any of your books are called because 99% of the time you just refer to them by acronyms, and also I therefore have no way to remember which is which or what any of them are about or anything.
lmfao i literally just unpinned (last week) the giant writing catalogue post because it was a pain to scroll past when i wanted to look at my blog (and i didn't think anyone was getting any value out of it). i can repin it if people want it back (?)
I do actually pretty religiously tag my writing posts by project
fanfiction (primarily wheel inside a wheel) lives in #natalie writes convoluted fanfiction
in the shadow of heaven and related live in #natalie writes a web serial
whale novel lives in #natalie writes a whale novel
arcadis park lives in #natalie writes a web serial...2!
you may peruse [or blacklist] the tags at your leisure lol
it's kinda funny to compare Arcadis Park and Tomorrow Ye Will Get Your Pay. They are spiritually very similar
not science fiction
standalone novel
written in a short time period
got whales in it
"about" labor
also: the tourism industry
have an unusual and claustrophobic setting
they've got kinda a biblical theme going on, though AP is book of jonah and whale novel is genesis
secondary character has a B__y___ name lmfao (Bayleigh and Bryanne respectively)
whale novel really is AP's spiritual sequel. But it's funny like. whale novel is significantly better than AP. i guess that's what almost 5 years more of writing experience does for you (AP was my third? novel and whale novel is like my 13th or something, i don't really count).
it's not like AP is bad-- in many ways it represented a huge leap forward for me in terms of storytelling ability. i wrote it to prove to myself that i had fixed the absolutely nightmarish problems i had been having with pacing, and that I could write in a different genre than I had been, and i did prove those things! AP is-- if it's anything-- tightly written, and the mystery novel elements work alright I think. and i think the setting in AP is very real and vivid, and it's got some fun moments. but if you compare them side by side, you can immediately tell that whale novel was written by a much more mature writer in terms of ability. or at least i can. but maybe that's just b/c everybody in 2024 winces at their 2019 self a little bit lol
wettest protagonist
Yan (In the Shadow of Heaven)
Yang (Wheel Inside a Wheel)
Jonah (Arcadis Park)
Marcus and/or Amos (Tomorrow Ye Will Get Your Pay [whale novel])
a secret fifth option?
for the record: i am pretty reliable about tagging all my writing posts b/c i know that this is not something the vast majority of people care about. you should blacklist these tags ⬇
and the funny thing is that i LITERALLY ALREADY HAVE written a novel about
whales (sorta?)
your shitty tourism industry job absolutely killing you forever
it was called Arcadis Park and i wrote it in 2019 and it was a Teen Murder Mystery Novel lmfao. it was good for what it was (a novel written in a month) though it could use a second draft. but anyway that fact is making me feel like i'm doing a bit of weird idea recycling lol
it's funny-- i have given so many different characters tiny sprinklings of "noodle's home life growing up" but probably the place that gets closest to a physical description is in arcadis park, of all places lmao. jonah wylan the most self insert of all time
