I rearranged the national dex to create the perfect order :)
Hey, Professor! I live in Unova, but I'm in Galar right now visiting a friend. A wild Yamper really took a liking to me, and I don't want to leave it behind, but I'm not sure what the protocol is for Galarian Pokemon traveling to other regions. I've heard it's pretty strict.
Oh dear, well, that’s certainly true.
Most regions are rather strict with rules about keeping their Wild populations separated from other regions populations, but... It’s actually not as bad as you may think! Many regions allow a lot of other regions Pokemon; for example, almost all Regions allow Kanto Region Pokemon!
This of course isn’t limited to just Kanto, but the general rule is this: The longer you’ve allowed your Pokemon to become a part of the NatDex, the more likely it is that those Pokemon will be allowed into a new Region.
Kanto was the first region to suggest a NatDex at all, if I’m remembering my history correctly, and thus they’re the oldest ones in it!
So you’ll definitely be allowed in the future, but... That doesn’t quite help you right now, does it?
Its definitely still possible however, even with Galar’s rather recent opening of their borders!
First, I’d check what vaccines may be needed. Some Regions have different illnesses than others, and your Pokemon can wreak havoc in a new Region if it brings something new in, or isn’t vaccinated against the new Region’s common diseases. So definitely talk to a Pokemon Center Nurse about that; they can usually help you get all of that done rather easily, and might be able to help you with more of the process, in fact!
Next, I’d look into the laws between Galar and Unova, where you said you’re from. Galar does allow transports out of their Region, and Unova is rather willing to allow Pokemon into their Region, but they will both have some stipulations, and you’ll need to abide by both. I know its rather common for you to have to make sure the Pokemon you’re bringing in isn’t fertile, and won’t be laying or helping lay eggs, so that they don’t end up populating their new Region, but there are ways around that if you’d rather keep them Intact for any reason! You can get a Breeder’s license, and simply not breed, for example. That would allow you to keep your Pokemon intact, though it also means you’d have to be in charge of their eggs and where they go if it did end up with any.
Another thing is Battles. If you enjoy Battling people, you may have to make sure your Yamper doesn’t appear in them, except with friends. This is because your Yamper wouldn’t appear in a normal Unova Dex, and would give you an unfair advantage; you can get fined rather heavily for violating this rule of Battle, so I’d really make sure that if you’re carrying around Pokemon to Battle, that you keep Yamper’s Pokeball separated from those, so you don’t accidentally toss that out!
You can also contact the Unova Regional Professor, or the Rangers in your area; Generally, Professors are willing to help you allow new Pokemon in, provided you let them examine it a bit. Rangers on the other hand are also extremely helpful and tend to have a good education about their Region’s laws when it comes to Pokemon!
Since you’re already in Galar I’m assuming you have your Passport and Pokemon Passport, but for anyone who might be considering travel; You will also need a Passport for yourself, as well as a Pokemon Passport that allows you to bring Pokemon back and forth between Regions! These are often connected to your Trainer Card, and you can usually keep them stored on your RotomPhone, Dex, or even a Pokétch, if you get a recent enough model!
I do wish you luck on bringing your Yamper into Unova, though! I’ve had to do that myself to bring Pokemon to the Tann Region, and it is a bit of a process, but I’ve never ended up regretting it.
In case anyone wanted to know what I thought about the NatDex thing.
What had to be the weirdest thing you had seen on your Pokémon journey?
Oh dear. There’s plenty of odd stuff out there... For example, my family still uses Apricorns to make Pokeballs. It was a major shock to me when I found out you could mass purchase Silph Co. ones in stores! There was a point, when I was filling out my NatDex, where I stopped using Apricorns completely, just because I was catching so may Pokemon for my PokeDex, and it was more convenient. Nowadays however, I’ve gone back to Apricorn balls, simply because it feels a bit more personal; They’re pretty easy to customize and adjust for different Pokemon, if you know how, so I can pretty easily get lost in carving for hours, making sure they suit their residing Pokemon!
Then, there was finding out you could resurrect Fossil Pokemon. When I was younger, they had only just started to do so, and it was definitely a major shock for me! Now, its pretty common, but when the science was new... Well, lets just say I searched for Fossils for hours when I found out!
Recently, I’ve stopped being surprised by things quite as often, and excluding the Galar Fossil Pokemon, poor things, I can’t exactly say I’ve seen anything too weird as of late...
Then again, I suppose there was the Pachirisu my Assistant found... He has pink cheeks rather than yellow! I ended up doing a quick check up and took a DNA sample, before releasing him back into the wild. He’s a healthy little dude, and I’m interested to see if more Pachirisu with pink cheeks crop up in the coming years. Not particularly weird, but it was rather cute looking.
Hardest battle you and your team had to go through?
So, I know this isn’t what you’re asking. You’re asking about Pokemon battles. Fact is, I’ve a similar question in my inbox about Gym battles, and honestly, the answer would be the same.
So, I’m going to answer this question a bit more seriously; The hardest battle my team and I have fought was giving up being a Trainer.
And this might be a bit long, even for me, so I’m going to put it under a cut.
BUG MONTH!!! Day 20
I got another replay!
I hope to god we get the nat dex back.
