Accidental Snack
Finally starting to overcome my writer’s block, so here’s a nice little story about a small party.
Nate grabbed a handful from the bowl of chips as he laughed, shoveling it in his mouth. He crunched into it, pausing as his tongue tasted something that wasn’t chips. But he mentally shrugged it off and swallowed anyways, feeling whatever it was fill his throat as it went down.
“Hey, do you know where Alex is?” Maddie asked, looking at the table. “They were right there,” she pointed near the chip bowl.
Nate felt a pit in his stomach as he felt a bit of squirming in it. “Right here!” a muffled voice came from inside him.
“Oh no, not again,” Nate sighed. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
“What’s done is done,” Alex muttered, their shifting causing a small burp to come out of Nate. “I mean, there are worse people to be eaten by.”
Maddie started to laugh. “Why does this always happen to you, Alex?” she asked with a wide smile.
“Because no one looks when they grab food,” they muttered, obviously not happy.
“I’m sorry, I’ll get you out right aw-” Nate started to stand up before he was interrupted by an indignant voice coming from his gut, along with a small burst of pain from inside it.
“No. It’s fine, I can stay in here,” Alex protested, and Nate realized they’d punched him from inside.
“Ow, okay,” he said, settling down a little roughly and shaking Alex. He smiled a bit. He knew how they struggled with saying if they liked something, so maybe they just wanted to stay in there for a while. “Anything else you want?” he asked Alex. He felt a nice touch coming from inside his stomach, and realized Alex was rubbing his belly from its soft inside. He let out a little sigh of happiness.
“Nah, I’m good. Just don’t drink any more soda. The carbonation makes your stomach all bubbly and splashy,” they said.
“Yessi- Sure thing,” Nate nodded, glancing at his still half-full glass of root beer forlornly. Maddie grabbed it with a wicked smile.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let it go to waste,” she winked before she chugged it, gulping loudly.
“Wow, I can hear that from in here, this is why I never like going in your stomach,” Alex chuckled from inside Nate.
Maddie gasped with fake offense. “How dare!”
Nate rolled his eyes, and slouched more on the couch, leaning back into it. “You two just never get along, do you?” he joked.
“Never,” they said in unison, though one of their voices were muffled.
