Nathan Ball - Drifting
London based musician Nathan Ball has returned with a fresh new single named Cold Hands, again demonstrating his captivating ability to deliver intricate and lush swathes of earthy indie rock. Nathan explains that he wrote Cold Hands at the end of last year while tucked away down in Cornwall. He’s influenced a lot by the seasons and winter’s elements of intensity and darkness crept their way into his songwriting. Cold Hands is about lost love and new opportunities. I previously compared Nathan Ball’s sprawling, billowing indie sound to Ben Howard. That once again applies here, but there’s also a pensive moodiness similar to the The National and an emotive lilt like that of Bear’s Den to be found in the rhapsodic spread that is Cold Hands. Nathan Ball will be heading back out on tour soon. He’ll be kicking off a run of dates in Europe with Matthew and The Atlas through February then returning to the UK in March to play his biggest headliner show to date at London’s OMEARA on March 15th, tickets here. Perhaps someday he’ll make his way across the pond. I know I’ll be there if that happens.
