Important Influencers in my Life, Right Now
Though these people go way beyond the questions I have asked, they anticipate the questions I might ask if I picked at particular threads, and as a consequence, have proven extremely valuable to my thinking recently.
Nathan Jacobs
This man's story, while very similar in some cases to mine, is also extremely divergent in others. He claims to have been in search of "Truth". A lofty goal, I suppose. I just wanted coherence, harmoniousness. Give me a plausible story around which I can give meaning to my life and I will be happy. "Truth" - Can it even be known? The story I was looking for couldn't contradict reality, and it had to give meaning to the vast array of everything I might ever encounter from blades of grass, stones, and other such mundane objects; to orbs of light, "third man syndrome", cryptids, UFOs, missing time anomalies, and "near death experiences". This man has reasoned a beautiful world where God reigns, and mysteries can abound. (1)

He's written much that I've read through the years - mostly as PDFs on academia.edu. I should send him money for the wisdom he's communicated to me as I've pondered questions in my mind. I did not realize that he was a catalyst for thinking of God within the context of Realism, and the modern revelator of the Essence/Energy distinction in his books until I heard his interview with Nathan Jacobs regarding this very subject. (2) Apparently, he's influenced us both.
Timothy Patitsas
Read this man, borrow his book if you can - it must be out of print because the publisher doesn't have any copies, and Amazon is charging $200.00 a book. I have spoken of the theophonies in my life from people who do not call themselves Christian. This is the man that gave me the permission to think and give words to what I felt. In his interview with Nathan Jacobs, they went back and forth, and the dialog was beautiful, uplifting, transcendent. (3)
I am a Christian Heretic.
I follow Christ, but the Churches created in his name leave me cold.
Adventists in particular, and Protestantism in general are too Gnostic. To the Eastern Orthodox, I am a Heretic. I don't think the Latins would like me any better than the other two groups, and I find the Pope problematic.
But God.
God.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have Mercy upon me, A sinner.
