Almost done with the ‘Sins of the Cities’ series and my favorite thing is how no matter whose POV it is pretty much everyone agrees that Justin is hot and probably very slutty.
He was not wrong when he said ‘my spirit guide’s a fucking tart.’

Something I really love about KJ Charles's books is that the characters really care that their lover have a free choice to decide their own paths, without the relationship (or their help and support) being conditioned upon it. Even if they hate what their partner decides to do, even if they think it's immoral or unethical, they always decide that supporting their lover means supporting their ability to make decisions about their own life freely
Dominic and Silas:
Nathaniel and Justin:
Listen to me. You are not alone, and I will make sure you’re protected. Tomorrow we’ll deal with this. Once Repentance is found, dead or alive, and this business is brought into the light, anything you may know will become irrelevant. Until then you’re safe here; you have shelter here as long as you need it. I promise you.” Lazarus stared at him. He looked startled, his eyes were huge, and Nathaniel abruptly realised his position. Kneeling on the floor, clasping the man’s hands, making extravagant promises. They must look like a William Powell Frith sentiment painting, “The Proposal” or some such, except for the ways in which they didn’t. He ought to get up and move away, but he couldn’t because the look in those wide, vulnerable grey eyes had him pinned like a butterfly, and every second that he didn’t get up was filling the room with awareness and memories and thoughts he could not have now.

But he and, uh, your other guvnor. Are they still together?” Please, Alec found himself thinking. He wanted to know it was true, that it was possible. Please. Susan grinned. “More than twenty years, and they haven’t stopped arguing yet.
Any Old Diamonds by KJ Charles
He never wanted to see any friend of his in that state again, without hope or joy. Lazarus was a weaselly shit but since he’d turned up the life had come back to Nathaniel’s eyes, and Mark was buggered if he’d see it extinguished again.

Okay I’m listening to Unnatural Vice and this bit is really funny (and sweet) to me bcs this is basically Nathaniel making up his own domestic AU
When he went back into the bathroom, Lazarus was stripped to the waist, braces hanging down, bent over the sink to wash face and hair, and the sight caught at Nathaniel’s throat. It was—he didn’t know what it was. Something about the slim lines of the man’s bare back, or the bizarre intimacy of him engaged in a domestic activity in Nathaniel’s bathroom, but he had a sudden vision, almost, that Lazarus, Justin, would turn with a smile, straighten up for a quick, casual kiss, the kind they exchanged out of long habit—
Nathaniel was overbred, overeducated, and had an overactive sense of responsibility which constantly got in everyone’s way. Lazarus was slippery, dishonest, and not the sort of character you’d think Nathaniel would mix with in a hundred years, but he was also bright as a button and sharp as a tack and, Mark had to admit, looked like a magnificently filthy fuck, so that probably explained Nathaniel’s attack of chivalry right there.
