The night continued. Whatever happened beyond the walls of your shared room, you were clueless of the happenings. More time was spent in the company of your partner. Hearing his voice read through his favorite poems was more than you could have asked for. Honestly, it was looking as if you were having a tougher time with Nathaniel's lycan incident than he was.
The poem book had been set aside. Nathaniel's arms were coiled around you as the two of you lounged once again. He had grown tired of holding the hardcover novel, preferring the feel of you under his touch instead. "I can sense you staring," he said, kissing into your hairline. "Of course I am," you affirmed, your fingertips brushing over the healed skin on his neck. "It…it looks like it never happened." "Then maybe we should pretend like it didn't." "Hardly."
There came a pause as the memories of that night rushed through your mind. "When I had jumped down from the sub-car…those lycan prints were huge. I don't think I've ever faced one quite like that. How many rounds did you shoot at it?" "Actually…" He hesitated. "I didn't, at that point." "What?!" You exclaimed. Picking your head up off of his chest, you were a little surprised that he looked you in the eyes. "It wouldn't be my first time. I've done it before." "By the size of that print? Nathaniel, be reasonable." He dropped his head back against the pillows as you continued. "There are times when we have to team up--ask for help. At least be more strategic. It's far better to over prepare, you know."
