Dazzling moments from 1957's 20 Million Miles to Earth one of Ray Harryhausen's early masterpieces of dimensional animation.
Sure it was early in his career and one of his lowest budgets but you sure can't tell. Not from the brilliant reptilian design of the creature (brought back from Venus and called the Ymir) or the way it is incorporated into the live action footage of this wonderful and remarkable nightmarish sequence.
It also boasts terrific black and white cinematography for this rare night sequence something Ray Harryhausen never did much of.
This mid-film set piece of the Ymir cornered in the barn of an Italian farm — remains IMHO one of Harryhausen's very very best.
A brilliant example of his magic.
