There are so many photos I could have shared to celebrate National Dance Day, but rather than show a performance image, I opted for this one of Charlottesville Ballet company artist Nanae Matsushima. She was on stage before rehearsals started, going through her routine over and over again, without the benefit of an audience's applause and without anyone else but me watching.
