Sooo, this is a photo of me, from last September (2016). I had just (finally) lost the baby weight, after baby number two (she was 13 months old at this time). I was working out every morning (doing Beachbody), eating super clean and healthy (I’m vegan for 5 1/2 yrs now), and feeling like my dancer self again! Woot! * Well, surprise! After being sick for the entire month of October 2016, I found out that I was pregnant with baby number three! SAY WHAT?!! Yeah! Hubby and I were shocked beyond belief, because we weren’t planning on having another baby. But yeah, God’s plans are always greater than our plans. * If I am going to be completely honest and transparent, I was a little frustrated because I had just lost the baby weight from my second daughter, and I was like, “Oh my gosh, here we go again! I’m about to gain a bunch of weight, and have to go through this process all over again!!” * But here’s the thing. I had already done it once (the weight just fell off with my first daughter effortlessly, but that was the end of that lol). So now I know exactly what I need to do in order to lose the baby weight, this third time around. * Knowledge is power! * Yesterday, I shared with my awesome VIPs on my email list that, what you don’t know CAN hurt you. Social media tip for dancers: If what you’re doing on social media isn’t helping you reach your business or professional goals, you need to re-evaluate what you’re doing on social media, and why you’re doing it. * In my experience, working with tons of top brands in the dance industry, as a Social Media Strategist Consultant, there's usually one or two (or sometimes three lol), missing pieces, that are holding you back from getting the results that you want (or could have) on social media. * It usually ends up being one or more of the following: * 👉🏾You're not innovating quickly enough to keep up with the fast-paced changes in the world of social media, to continue growing your dance business, or online presence for your personal dance brand. * 👉🏾You're not building your e-mail list (using an e-mail marketing service), and getting your targeted fans and followers off of social media and onto your e-mail list, where you can convert them to paying clients/customers. * 👉🏾You don't have a comprehensive social media marketing strategy that is tied directly to your business or professional goals, or you have a strategy, but you're not consistent with implementing it. * I could go on, but you get the idea. There are so many moving parts that have to work together seamlessly, in order for you to get the results that you desire for your dance business or personal brand, through social media. As you prepare for the week ahead, let this be your mantra: Trust, Hustle, Rest, Repeat. * Trust that God’s get everything all under control, so you don’t need to worry about tomorrow. God is already there, He is faithful, and He’s got you covered. * Hustle so that you can eat! You don’t work, you don’t eat. There is no shortcut to success. You simply have to put in the work, consistently, every day, for years and years. It’s the only way. Don’t complain about the results you didn’t get, from the work that you didn’t do. It’s not easy. But the rewards are sweet! Put in the work! * Rest is essential! If you don’t take time to rest and recharge your body, mind, and spirit, you will end up being “tore up, from the floor up”! Lol Stop trying to be a super hero, and sit down (or lay down) and get some rest. Your body needs it, and if you don’t take care of this one body that you have, you will suffer. It’s not that serious. The work, to-do list, the laundry, the _________ (fill in the blank), will still be there after you take some time to rest. So don’t be silly and run yourself into the ground for anyone, or anything. * Got it? Now, start all over again! Trust in God! His plans are greater than anything you can imagine. If He gave you the vision, He has also empowered you with the grace and skills to fulfill it. Have peace. 5 Ways Dancers Can Start Building Your Own, Profitable Online Brand * 1. Think about 3 different ways that you can take your skills, talents, passion, and expertise in real life, and create digital products from them. * 2. Get clear about who you are as a brand, what your brand represents, and who you serve/who benefits the most from what you have to offer. * 3. Create a social media strategy that will allow you to connect with your ideal audience, and potential clients and customers online. * 4. Start building your email list, using an email marketing service, i.e. MailChimp, Aweber, Constant Contact, ConvertKit, InfusionSoft, etc., so that social media doesn’t hold you hostage. * 5. Start creating and putting out content, on a regular basis, that serves your target audience, solves a problem for them, and highlights your expertise in your niche market. Dance Tip of the day: If you want something greater than what is being offered to you, you must create it. * Tired of inconsistent work? Tired of no paid time off, and inconsistent paychecks? Tired of the stress of what you would do if you got sick, injured, or had a baby? * Let’s talk about this dancers... * The idea of having multiple streams of income is not a new concept for dancers. I’m sure at any given time, you’ve worked at least two or three jobs to survive, or maybe taught at a few different dance studios, in order to make ends meet. * This is common for most dancers, choreographers, and dance teachers, as one job doesn’t normally provide enough income for you to cover your living expenses, student loans, dance classes, etc. But the concept of creating multiple streams of passive residual income is not a common concept amongst dance artists, but it should be. * Dancer’s Standard Income: # of Work Hours x Hourly Pay = Your Paycheck * Problems: You must show up for work in order to get paid. Hey guys! I've connected with a lot of new folks on here recently, so I figured it was time for a little introduction. Here are five things you may not know about me: * 1. I teach dancers how to build an online brand that pays, and I empower dancers and dance business owners with the tools they need, to create a better quality of life. How do I do this? * 2. I teach video master classes (online), offer an online branding boot camp course, and sell digital products (e-books, etc. all on my website), that teaches dancers and dance biz owners exactly how to monetize their online presence, grow their online brand in a powerful and profitable way, and use proven video and social media marketing strategies to stand out from their competitors, and other people who do the same thing as they do. * 3. I've been working as a Social Media Marketing Strategist/Consultant for the past several years, and have created social media strategies for, or consulted with, top dance brands, including: Bloch Dancewear, So Danca Dancewear, the Joffrey Ballet School, Triple Threat Talent Tour, and DNA Arts Intensive (to name a few). * 4. I am 16 weeks pregnant in this photo, & it amazes me how quickly things change AS SOON AS you get pregnant! * Your energy level drops, you can't do as much as you used to do, in the time frame that you used to do it, the list goes on and on... * Talk about an adjustment! * Plus, with every pregnancy comes new challenges. * With my 1st daughter, I was teaching dance classes at the Joffrey Ballet School, twice a week, while simultaneously working as a Social Media Consultant, and producing my own tv show. * I taught my dance classes for the entire 9 months of my pregnancy, with ease. It was awesome! * Baby girl number two brought new challenges. I was taking care of a toddler (under the age of two), and dealing with lots of sickness and fatigue (no more teaching dance classes). * Then my water broke at 25 weeks, & I ended up in the hospital on bed rest, before giving birth to my preemie, 3 months early! * That was followed by two months of going to the hospital every day, to visit our baby girl in the NICU, while I was working on the biggest consulting contract of my career! * And here I am, pregnant w/ baby number 3, working from home, with TWO young children, ages 3 and under. I haven't been as active on social media this past week (and really the past few months), as I normally am, but for good reason. * 😫1.My hubby and eldest daughter haven't been feeling well this week, so that really threw a wrench in a lot of my plans for the week. (They're both starting to feel better now, yay!) * 🤰🏽2.Working from home with two kids, ages 3 and under (who don't go to daycare), is quite the challenge. But throw in being PREGNANT with baby number three, amongst all of that, and you have the perfect storm! lol Not impossible, but, certainly not easy. * 💃🏽3.I've got BIG plans for this year y'all (besides having baby number three in June)! You will start to see some really fantastic, NEW, and exciting things from me (business-wise) this month, and I couldn't be more psyched about it! But I'm the type that prefers to show, rather than tell. * So yeah, that basically sums up where I'm at right now. You'll be seeing a LOT more from me in the coming days and weeks. Are you feeling frustrated with your engagement rate on Instagram or Facebook, due to the latest algorithm changes? * You're not alone! * Most people are frustrated with their engagement, on EVERY platform right now, due to over-saturation, algorithm changes, etc., whether they have 1,000 followers, or 50,000 followers/fans/subscribers. * Here are some things you can do to help turn things around: * 👉🏽Focus on only 2 or 3 sites where your target market is most active. * 👉🏽Focus on the sites that are giving you the best results. * 👉🏽Don't get too frustrated if you're not using, or have never used paid ads. You need that combo of free AND paid, to really get the best results. * 👉🏽The people who are really killing it (especially on Facebook), are people who pay for ads. When done right, it's totally worth the money. I am a HUGE advocate of Facebook and Instagram ads (especially video ads). * 👉🏽Switch up your hashtags. Research, test, analyze your results, and try again. (I literally do this ALL the time!!) * 👉🏽Keep in mind how much time you realistically have to dedicate to your social media strategy, and manage your expectations accordingly. * 👉🏽Get your sales funnel, and email marketing strategy in place (I'm revamping mine, as we speak). Social media tip: In order to be GREAT, you have to be WISE. If you're not enjoying the journey, then you're doing it wrong. * You're not meant to be miserable on your journey to greatness. You're supposed to be happy, taking each challenge in stride, while making time to celebrate your progress, and simply enjoy your life. * You must find the balance between the hustle and grind, and rest, relaxation, and time to have fun, and step away from your work. * If you think the world will fall apart if you take a couple of days off, you're wrong. * If you think your business will fail, if you work on it less, you're wrong. * If you think things will go down hill if you delegate some of your responsibilities, you're wrong again. * Focus on increasing the quality of the time you spend working towards your goals, not the quantity. * Be more intentional about enjoying the journey, and make more time for rest, relaxation, and plain old fun! * You'll find that, not only will you be more inspired, creative, and successful, you'll be happier, more content, and more thankful and excited about it life. * Don't get caught up in the grind. God didn't create you to grind until you can't grind anymore. God created you for greatness! He wants you to serve others with your gifts, and ENJOY life along the way. * Seek His guidance and wisdom for how you should operate in your business, and where to focus your time and energy. God can make you more successful, with one idea, ordained by Him, than a week of you working 80 hours, trying to "make things happen" on your own. * * Trust God, enjoy every step of your journey, and just chill.
