I said this before and I'll say it again: canon romance options in Dispatch suck big time. Two white cis women, one of which is basically verbally assaulting you over and over by making nasty jokes Robert (and me) dislikes. (If that was done by a man to a woman, people would SCREAM about it.) Invisigal is disgusting because of that, actually. That romance is SO freaking forced from the first second. The commentaries she makes about "okay, I'm wet" and so on? Ew.

But then they introduce Phenomaman and you can't romance him??? There's more chemistry in that for me than with any of the women. Jfc. (Like I'll romance Blaze for the achievements, but just one Phenomaman's appearance makes me NOT want to romance her. I don't care. I literally do not care.)

Robert with Sonar, with Flambae, with Phenomaman >>>>> anything this game offers canonically. Diversity? Inclusivity? Where?

(Hell, Malevola is one of THE most popular requests from the fandom to make her a romance option. I don't really see her with Robert as I imagine her with a woman for some reason, but she's hot as fuck.)

Honestly, the hell? Even Telltale's writing was WAY better.

UPD:

I'd ship Robert with Royd over Invisigal. I'd ship him with ANYONE else over Invisigal. Even with Waterboy, at least he's an awkward sweetheart. I forgot about that sex dream in episode 4 and how aggressive Invisigal is about her attraction to Robert. Disgusting.

Gustave being killed while a) joking around with Maelle about throwing rocks, an activity they used to and still do together b) unknowingly shielding Maelle with his body. The first thing that he tells her is to "Run", like he asked her to promise him to do (and like he told her HE would do), and instead she tries to reach him and perhaps protect him????

I feel ill. The fact that Gustave is probably just another version of Verso? Dude, I was already feeling shippy with Gustave and Maelle but OH. MY. GOD. I knew Gustave was going to die, but it's framed in such an unexpected way so we experience it with Maelle. Damn.

And THEN Gustave KNOWINGLY shielding Maelle with his body.

Verso protecting Maelle from, who I assume is their dad, knowing/seeing his own sister in Maelle? (which she probably is??? in a way???) aaaaaaaaaa!!!!

i assume the dude went after his wife that is The Paintress, unable to let go? And Verso going, "She will never paint again."

i said about shipping them before i even knew any details because they just had that kind of vibe and yeeeeah. totally ship them. the height difference, too. <3

also, the fact that Gustave is Maelle's legal guardian (on paper) & how much they love each other. which, again, I assume is Alicia's way of coping with the death of her brother? either way, Gustave x Maelle totally works.

on another note: Verso showing up at camp, giving them back Gustave's arm with the converter, and saying, "I'm sorry I couldn't save your friend." 🥺🥺🥺 Please be one of the good ones.

I saw glimpses of endings through gifs before I started my playthrough and I am Concerned. I hope I know it in my heart what to choose when the time comes (and that the game does not disappoint).

I was really surprised to learn that, if you hold back the truth about Robert being the Mecha Man, Flambae never flips out. It's kind of underwhelming actually.

My guess is that the game assumes you'd do the right thing, tell the truth, but then the path for when you don't (and some other things, like rejecting Invisigal, not untying her; like Malevola having Sonar as her bestie on the shift, so there's no big drama for several shifts, as if cutting off Coupe was whatever) just doesn't... play off? Again, it's underwhelming.

I think I liked the game better this time around 'cause I knew what to expect, but overall, it was still overhyped. It's still more of an interacting movie than a game imo. Still overpriced.

the absolute gut-wretching situation of Astrid and Giovanni when she loves him and he just cheats, and cheats, and cheats. and when you tell Astrid the truth about Giovanni's cheating and tell him to get out of her house, he goes like (a quote from memory, so don't quote me on that), "I don't understand. Why? Everything was going so well. This Astrid character and her hysterics."

dude!! you cheated on her and she took you back because she still loves you, while you lie to her face about her being the only woman in her life from now and feel no remorse. at all.

the tragedy is, for me, is that I can't stand cheating, it never leads to anything good (and my family experienced it, and it's quite the trauma of that kind of betrayal—at least for me). but at the same time I like them both.

Astrid is incredible. lovely, warm, loyal. she's surprised when you hug her, but she absolutely melts into the hug. I could hug her for hours. "what should I do for you to feed me? write you a letter?" I love you. I don't know how I'm going to let you go.

Giovanni is playful, and flirtatious, and deliberately hugs you with hug big arms. it's not you who hug him, it's him who hugs YOU. the way he rejects you when he's happy—"I'm alright, not hungry, not even bored." like. dude!! if only you were as loyal as Astrid, because your overall personality is so warm and cosy. he walks like Simba from The Lion King when there's a montage of him and Timon and Pumba going across a log, singing and dancing.

man. with all its cons, and how overwhelmed I feel with them at times, the game that Spiritfarer is.
