Hi! I saw your posting about an Expedition 33 server. Are you guys still taking new people? Also by freak stuff, are you guys okay with people who ship stuff like Gustave/Maelle and Verso/Maelle? (Just wondering since I never know what people mean anymore, and I would ever want to make anyone feel uncomfortable)

That is a great question! I feel like there are quite a lot of people who look for a place where they can safely ship PrObLemAtiC stuff without being harassed over a bunch of pixels and let me assure you, you have found it. We're grown ups who can tell the difference between fiction and reality so we do not allow any public disgrace of kinks and ships in our server. However, since we have a lot of people, to make it easy for everyone to curate their own experience, we keep ships with Maelle in the dead dove section of the server and to see it, one will need to grab a special role. Once you are there, you can go wild with your ideas and have fun without fearing that someone will judge you.

I myself drew pics with both Versaelle and Gustaelle (didn't post them publicly though, maybe I should😏) so trust me, you are save with us and you won't make anyone uncomfortable because everyone there has their own corner and if people don't want to see something, they won't.

Gustave being killed while a) joking around with Maelle about throwing rocks, an activity they used to and still do together b) unknowingly shielding Maelle with his body. The first thing that he tells her is to "Run", like he asked her to promise him to do (and like he told her HE would do), and instead she tries to reach him and perhaps protect him????

I feel ill. The fact that Gustave is probably just another version of Verso? Dude, I was already feeling shippy with Gustave and Maelle but OH. MY. GOD. I knew Gustave was going to die, but it's framed in such an unexpected way so we experience it with Maelle. Damn.

And THEN Gustave KNOWINGLY shielding Maelle with his body.

Verso protecting Maelle from, who I assume is their dad, knowing/seeing his own sister in Maelle? (which she probably is??? in a way???) aaaaaaaaaa!!!!

i assume the dude went after his wife that is The Paintress, unable to let go? And Verso going, "She will never paint again."

i said about shipping them before i even knew any details because they just had that kind of vibe and yeeeeah. totally ship them. the height difference, too. <3

also, the fact that Gustave is Maelle's legal guardian (on paper) & how much they love each other. which, again, I assume is Alicia's way of coping with the death of her brother? either way, Gustave x Maelle totally works.

on another note: Verso showing up at camp, giving them back Gustave's arm with the converter, and saying, "I'm sorry I couldn't save your friend." 🥺🥺🥺 Please be one of the good ones.

I saw glimpses of endings through gifs before I started my playthrough and I am Concerned. I hope I know it in my heart what to choose when the time comes (and that the game does not disappoint).

Gustaelle where Gustave doesn't quite reciprocate and it is Maelle who comes to realize her love for him, but it's more like a slow realization than a sudden leap from the shadows after being stalked.

And with this love comes the ache of knowing he'll never reciprocate; not in the way she'll ever admit. Because surely she loved him like a brother, and surely she loved him like everyone in Lumiére did. Yet a visceral melancholy sat like lead in the depths of her stomach whenever Sophie was in the picture.

Maelle would never forget the evening Gustave sat her down at the kitchen table—he spoke, his voice ready to break, and he was more sullen than she'd ever seen him.

"Sophie and I... we've broken up," he'd say.

That was the happiest day of Maelle's life.

It would be by this time Maelle realizes the vastness of her wanting. The insatiable leftover hunger Gustave leaves her with. The ambiguity of this desire; how little courage she possesses to name it, he loves her, but not enough to really give her what she wants. It will never be enough.

And so Maelle settles for second-best; she'll keep the words she wants to say to him stuck like a lump in her throat. She'll steal glances at him as he reads the morning paper with his coffee. And she'll leave him flowers; reds ones and pink ones and white ones too.

And maybe hopefully, it will be enough to see the smile on his face, and the flowers adorning their apartment in small glass vases.
