Holistic Paleo. What are a Paleo Warrior's essential mind-body connections? Here are 7 immutable keys:
That we see ourselves as integrated beings, with no one aspect that is not synchronized with all others. If our mindset is Paleo, all of our actions must equally echo and support our Paleo awareness.
That awareness includes both mind and body activity. One is not independent from the another. Each is intertwined.
That we move. This principal is as important as every other. Our ancestors were in constant, purposeful movement.
That we eat whole, ancestral foods. This dictum excludes all processed foods, sugar, most restaurant offerings and most grains.
That we eat balanced meals when possible, but not be obsessed with doing so. By necessity our ancestors ate only those foods that were available to them. That availability was dictated by seasonality, luck and geography. Some meals were vegetarian, some completely meat.
That we play, and laugh, and view ourselves humbly. Play excludes anger and eliminates stress.
That we rest, deeply and thoroughly.
Exclude any one of these 7 primary characteristics and you stand as a dysfunctional Modern. Eating "Paleo" while failing to use your body in constantly challenging movements is to stand as dysfunctional. Fail to have fun, sleep deeply on a regular basis and view your mind and body as being in competition (or as strange competitors) creates a similar dysfunction.
