Along with Bookmandu we set out to the destination, namely to the Khandeshwori V.D.C., Darchula on August 5th, 2016 with a collection of 644 books and 215 copies to distribute among the children of Khandeshwori Higher Secondary School .
On the first day of departure, we came over a sight of a truck accident where one of the passengers had died on the spot and an another one had barely escaped with some injuries.
Day two wasn't going any better either as a landslide had blocked the road, flooding it with water and the team had to shift all the books and copies on to a local jeep at the other side of the blocked road to get moving. Surprisingly, the trail of misfortunes continued and now, the jeep was the one to encounter with an accident. Luckily, nothing major happened but one of the sack of books had teared open and water had soaked it wet. Hurriedly, with an attempt to undone the harm, the team did whatever they could to dry the books, while the jeep moved forward on its path to Latinath, a V.D.C. located in Darchula. After reaching there, we had a good night of sleep after an extremely dreadful sequence of events.
However, the next morning we started the trek. After 13 hours of trekking, with frequent rest stops, we reached to Khandeshwari V.D.C at last. It was already late so we slept the night away. Bookmandu Nepal was successful in distributing 600 books and 215 copies to each and every children student in the school. Faces of the children lit up as they received their study materials and nothing could amount to the expression of gratitude the whole Bookmandu team received for their hard work and constant struggle on bringing the materials to the village and the school.
We then hiked back to Ganna the same day, it was a comfy hike down. And we took the 2nd bus to Attariya, Kailali. The bus ride we had that night as it was on a wild speed where on the road even 2 bus were had to pass by. It was a roller coster ride back to #Attariya, Kailali as the 3rd bus which left from Ganna, Dadeldhura fell from cliff and well only 2 people survived. Luck that we got on the 2nd bus and form Attariya, Kailali to Kathmandu was also not that comfortable as we got on the regular bus not Delux. Had to incounter bad experience of bus rides and finally we were at Malekhu at 2130 hour and hence we stuck in jam of Thankot till 0200 hour.
After 49hours of continuous bus rides and nearly 750+km travelled. I am finally home.
