So this is a very different garden picture. :DD This green slime like "plants" come out of the gravel after the rain and I always wondered what this might be. It's called nostoc commune or star jelly. Birds eat it and also in Peru it's known as healthy food. It's one of the first living organisms on land of planet Earth.

do you know what the differences are between pigeons and doves?

Ah the bane of common names... Pigeons and doves both are in the Columbidae family of animals, and there's not a taxonomic difference between the two. According to this article the smaller ones are more commonly called doves. Your common city pigeon though? Feral domesticated rock doves.
