My clan has a dojutsu called Earth’s Reflection. This dojutsu allows her to access the “memories” of the Earth, letting her see what had happened there previously. The longer ago the event was, the less the Earth “remembers” it and the foggier it is. It's good because if it was recent, she can even hear them talking. Bad, if it wasn't recent she'll just see nada, she's asleep when she activates it, and the information overload if she goes too deep is enough to drive her insane. Is that balanced?
I think this is a real neat idea! It’s very creative.
It’s not often you see a doujutsu this unique, because in my experience, a lot don’t deviate from the canon. So it’s really great to see this.
The one thing that stuck out to me was the Earth ‘remembering.’ Just having the Earth itself clinging to a memory to replay it may not be enough, so using some variation of reading/translating traces of chakra in the Earth or chakra imprints as the trigger may be the way to go.
You’ve put in counter measures to make sure that it is balanced! You’ve done a good job. If you did want to add another weakness, it could be that a person disguising their chakra is distorted, unclear, or visually missing. I feel this would also add onto the ‘overload effect.’
It’s well thought out!
(I really want to know what happens if the Earth they’re reading has been through an Earthquake, destroyed, or marred.)
Thank you for sending this in and thank you for your patience! I’m sorry it took so long for us to get to it.
Good luck.
