Instead, we go travelling with our distractions and stay with all our labels on the surface: man, woman, Spanish, Chinese, black, white. We keep circling, never going or arriving anywhere. There are techniques to help us be mindful of mind, to put a leash on ourselves so that when we go away from the nature of our oceanlike mind we won't go too far. Chanting the Heart Sutra, which is a description of mind itself, is one of those techniques that we can use to help us return and hopefully one day finally arrive.
