Though it is a common misconception, scratching Ivy or Oak rashes don’t spread them. Its a bit hard to explain but I’ll keep it short.

Rashes form from a reaction to Urushiol Oil, when the oil binds to your skin to form the rashes. 

When you scratch them to the point of a scab or blister, the fluid released is of bodily origin, no urushiol oil was released

The reason for the rashes ‘spreading’ is due to the fact that the urushiol oil actually made it, either by touching the area with hands with the oil on it, or by the leaf itself, to that location and formed the rash

Theres your medical knowledge for the day. I still wouldn’t scratch cause of infections though
