Extremes: Nox and Cain

Cain's feet hit the ground a little harder than his usual liking. The concrete cracked as powerful white wings slowed his landing. Unfortunately there was only so much damage to certain Earthly surfaces that he could avoid when he had to fly at night. The sun was the primary source of power for him. The warmth it provided being one of his favorite sensations against his weathered skin.
But there was far more than simple darkness this night. He had detected it from the air, and, too interested to ignore it, he had decided to investigate.
"I can sense you," he called to the shadows. "Darkness only hides so much."
